  1. Went to see Titanic 3D at Cineworld this week. Very dissapointing. Not a lot of it seemed noticably 3D. Dont know what its like on Imax 3D. But I'd say dont bother with the 3D version on the normal screens. Save your money & watch it again on yer own DVD on HD Telly!
  2. Thanks for all the advice. Contract had 7 day cooling off period and even a pre-printed cancellation form! However, to complete the form you needed a Contract No and the rep had left it blank on the front sheet. I have rung them and got the number and cancelled in writing by Royal Mail Special Delivery. Once I get Mums £400 (!) deposit back I'll really let them know what I think about them. Be warned. This was a cold telephone call booking a rep visit. In my Mums words "I thought if I didn't sign I'd never get rid of him" B****ds
  3. Going over today to look into any paperwork she may have signed. Rep there for over 2 hours. Price started at £10,000 for new garage roof dropped to £4,000 on an 'only available today' offer. Think substantial deposit has been paid & work schedule agreed. How does she stand legally? Will she forfeit the deposit if the work is cancelled? Can the work be cancelled if she's signed a contract? Got a quote from a reputable firm who said the most the job should cost £2,000. OMG! What can we do?
  4. Think you will need to contact Cats Protection or RSPCA fro neutering voucher. Puss would need to be one of their admits for them to do the neutering etc. They dont have a specific fund allocation for neutering/spaying scheme.
  5. At lunchtime today Thurs 12 April one of the cats managed to force his way out of a secured window & escape. He is very timid, so will probably be not far away hiding. He is Black & White, lot of white on face, slim build, only just neutered & still boy pongy, his eyes may look sore & watery. He has a microchip but no collar. Last seen on Clarke Street. Can people anywhere in the area surrounding Travis Place in Broomhall please keep a look out for him. Check sheds, outhouses, gardens etc. If you spot him call the emergency mobile 07776382423 or Highfield Vets 0114 2554663 telling us when & where he was last seen. He will probably require trapping as he is very scared. He's never been a stray and we are all desperate to get him back safe.
  6. Hi all, so glad this little one will have a happy ending. Thanks to everyone who gave advice & support. Just to say... The Sheffield Cats Shelter is ALWAYS looking for good emergency foster homes. They will cover all medical costs & provide food, litter etc till a space can be found at the Shelter. Contact the fostering co ordinator on 0114 2724441. Calls answered between 1.00-4.00 daily.
  7. Hi Luby..First try to find an owner, although judging by his behaviour it sounds like the little fella is either stray, homeless or abandoned. If you pop him to a local vet they can scan him for a microchip. (However..chances are if he's not neutered he's not chipped either) If you can put a collar on him & with one of those little tube address holders & leave a note inside with a contact tel number asking if he does have an owner for them to let you know. Ask around locally. In the meantime start ringing ALL the cat rescues you can. Get him on the waiting lists for admission asap. You'll probably get no help from RSPCA who tend not to offer help to strays/homeless. Try Sheffield Cats Shelter, Cats Protection & Thornberry. In the meantime, is Mum ok to feed him? Can she give him a shelter of some sort to stay warm & dry? Old shed or a box maybe? Good luck.
  8. Hi..Sheffield Cats Shelter phone number is actually 0114 2724441. Phones are answered between 1.00pm -4.00pm daily. Give them a call to see when kittens will be ready. On behalf of the adult cats....please consider them! There are so many lovely adult cats needing new homes through no fault of their own. Please look on their website to see who is available. Best thing to do is to go down & register...ask for a look round...spend time with the cats. I guarantee they will melt your heart. The Shelter is open every day to visitors between 1.30pm & 3.00pm.
  9. I worked in the same vicintiy of shops in Broomhill as Balti King. All I can say is when I saw what went on at the back of the restaurant it was enough to put me off forever! Lots of Indian Ready Meal packaging in their bin (?) Food delivered, dropped on floor & put back on trays, rubbish taken out of other shops bins (And I mean staff literally dangling themselves into the bins to get at the stuff!) & taking it into their kitchen. Best one ever was when chef came out back to have a breather...blew nose straight into apron then went back into kitchen! Yuk.
  10. I used to use Walkley Dental practice. When Dentist Darren left I transferred over to his new practice in Ecclesfield. Why? Well, I spent several happy years with Darren at Walkley, only ever needing scale & polish. Darren left so I saw a new dentist there who on the first consultation said I was looking at immediate costly & lengthy treatment as my dental health was 'poor'. When I saw Darren, guess what? All I needed was my usual scale & polish. Hmmm?...This was four years ago, so maybe things have changed since then. Just glad I had sense to seek advice elsewhere. ps I still have all my teeth. Still only needing a scale & polish!
  11. Bubbles...did you find your cat? If not, please contact the RSPCA. They have one listed on their found cats website that could be yours.
  12. Hi..please look on the RSPCA Sheffield 'found' cats register. Sat night in S35 long haired elderly cat reported found. Could this be yours? I hope so.
  13. The tabby & white cat found in Peace Gardens is now at Thornberry. It was very thin, very hungry, very dirty & had skin problems. With no chip and no name tag the cat was taken into Rescue where it can be fed, receive treatment & hopefully it's owner traced. The cat was in poor condition in a non residential area & it was not safe to leave her there. The people who found her did the right thing.
  14. Is the tabby & white cat now somewhere safe? Does anyone know what happened with the black & white cat found in the same area? (See Lost & Found) Hope they're not still in the Peace Gardens.
  15. Hi..I think this is the second posting of a young cat found in the city centre. In Lost & Found section someone has listed finding a black & white cat wearing a silver collar in Peace Gardens. Is it definately tabby (stripey) & white? Or black & white? If it is it's a bit of a worry. That's 2 young cats both wearing silver collars found in City Centre. I fear they could have been dumped. Can anyone locate them & just take them in temporarily so they can be kept safe until a place can be found for them in a Rescue? Then they can be chip checked & their owners hopefully found. I seriously doubt they live in the city centre. It's no place for young cats to be roaming.
  16. Hi...err...not to put you off or anything...but one of my cats did exactly the same thing for her whole life. Wee in tray, poo on floor next to the tray. I tried everything. Cleaning it with appropriate products, changing the type of litter, new hooded tray, bigger tray, extra tray etc. In the end I just concluded that was just her thing! Poo on the floor cat! She was the only one whoever did it. All my others used the tray as normal. Eventually I put laminate flooring around the tray area & just accepted that I would need to clean up the poo every day off the floor. Hey Ho! I loved her no matter what & when she passed away I actually missed the poo cleaning up routine!
  17. Uncle Sams on Ecclesall Road. No competition! Still the original and best.
  18. Mmmmm......Lemon Cake & Lattes. Never can get enough! Go Costa, I say!
  19. Haven't been to visit this year yet, but will probably go over Easter. We go at least twice a year. Great place to visit. Tigers, lions, lemurs, meercats, racoon dogs, marmosets and red river hogs are my favourites. Great place for adults & kids. Large petting area, huge playbarn & enormous wooden treehouse thingy for little climbers! (Human kind). You get really up close & personal with the animals in Lemur Woods & the South Americas exhibit. Tip...bring you own lunch & eat out. (Rumours are..leopards are coming!)
  20. You need to get to the bottom of the poo problem, pardon the pun! Has kittie been wormed? If yes, then has the vet asked for poo sample to run tests for possible problems such as Giardia? (This is a very common cause of tummy trouble in young cats/kittens & needs specific worming treatment to clear it up). They can also test for virus such as Corona which can cause upset tummies. If medical conditions have been ruled out, then you need to think about dietary causes. Kittie may just be sensitive to certain foods. Upsets can be eased off as Moonbird says with chicken/rice. But talk to your vet about a prescription diet from your vet suitable for a kitten of that age having tummy trouble. Hope this helps.
  21. Sheffield Cats Shelter in Broomhall are having Yard Sales again this year. The Yard area is roofed so buyers stay dry. Donated items from supporters are on sale to raise funds for the charity. Clothes, books, bric-brac, toys etc. Next one on Sunday April 1st 11am-3pm.
  22. Think this is a virus that has come around again. Currently have similar symtoms duckgirl. Pain in lower back & hip area & most other joints hurt, annoying cough, feeling sick but not being sick ,headachy, tired, hot & cold, no appetite. Just keeping up with fluids & painkillers & hope to get over it soon. Apparantly it's come back due to a very mild winter.
  23. I've been following this one too. Hope Heston is all sorted now. I didn't know much about Broomhill Vets till I read this so I am encouraged to hear that they offer a 24 hr personalised service for emergencies.
  24. Why dont you try Sheffield Cats Shelter? Many cute cats & kitties there.
  25. Hi Pixlestar. The event is held in the covered backyard area of the premises & only donated items are sold from the tables that are available. There's just not enough room for independent stallholders as it is jam packed with tablesful of many, many pre owned items!
