  1. This is all new to me, what happens if you want to pay for someone else as well? Does it count as 2 journeys towards the day ticket? Unlikely I know but just wondering.

  5. Looking for advice on awnings, not had one before and not sure what sort to go for, not even sure how to fit it. (We have the wind out awning, looking to get a porch type ) It's for a motorhome, Any recommendations?

  10. It was a lovely shop, they also sold wires and things to make earrings. Just wish I could remember the name!
  11. Can anyone remember the name of the shop opposite Suggs that sold beads and things ?
  12. My great grandfather and great uncle worked there, between the wars, and my Mum and Dad in the 40s , I have some old books in the loft I will look for.
  13. Does anyone know why there is a sign on Rotherham Road coming up from Eckington towards Halfway saying South Yorkshire Forest ? There are a few trees but hardly a forest!
  14. Mrs Maxwell was definitely at the juniors on base green when I was there, (1963_1966) I remember her very well with her victory v sweets on her desk!
  15. Spare a thought for those that live near there.... ( It wasn't there when we moved 30 odd years ago) Can't get out of the end of our road, no-one will let us .... only advantage is we can walk to the peaks,.....just can't get to work

  17. . Misty - did you start in 1960 or 1959? I started Easter 59 Not sure to be honest- I know I started "big" school in 1966-so probably the same year as you!
  18. I had completely forgotten Mr and Mrs Sykes! I can't believe how far I walked to school--We lived at the bottom of Frecheville, and walked to Base Green, ( I remember a boy getting knocked down on Birley Moor Road ) I don't suppose anyone walks that far these days!
  19. Sadly it is no more.... knocked down and houses built there. Mrs Maxwell was definitely at the juniors, she lived in Beighton , Don't remember her husband though. I remember Miss Beale at the infants wearing lace gloves-indoors! shocking!! She was lovely.
