Paul Cocker 20-01-2003, 07:00 Maybe some of us know eachother or wenmt to the same school so:
I went to Colley School - now Parson Cross College - and left in 1986.
Paul
Michael_W 20-01-2003, 10:32 Abbeydale Grange at Millhouses, left in 1977. Howard Wilkinson (Former Owls Manager) was a PE teacher there at the time and Seb Coe the Athlete / Tory was probably it's most famous former pupil, Brian Anderson, former British champion Boxer was in my year.
Hey, someone posted this url on my Ecclesfield School forum, so thought I'd better add my url here - http://www.esvc.freeserve.co.uk/
Wales High School, Kiveton.
It's a Sheffield post code.
I left in 1995.
I went to Frodsham High school in my Home town of Frodsham near Chester. The only claim to fame is that Gary Barlow from Take That went there and his mum works there as a lab assistant, she's called "Mrs Barlow" or Marge, by her friends, I think.
Its now called Frodsham College because it managed to become a special school, meaning they focus on technology, or there supposed to. I now suspect that they actually just use the extra £500,000 a year paying microsoft for the windows, and then having someone maintain it.... Oh and they got the whole school wired up ready for ethernet connections.... Im babbling now..
i still goto the Sheffield College (Peaks centre)
cellarboy 22-01-2003, 22:44 Went to Hurlfield (is it Myrtle Springs now???) Left in 1986.
I went to Herries School and left in 1985 I THINK it was!
I went to Bosworth College in Leicestershire. I'm originally from Market Bosworth but came to Sheffield Hallam to do Computer & Network Engineering.
I went to prince edward at the manor top, Mr. Sefton was the headteacher a little tough guy he bullied all the boys ( especially the big ones ) I left in 1941 ( oh dear what a long time ago. ) Try not to think about it!
I attended Prince Edward at the manor top,we had a little tough guy for a head teacher called Mr. Sefton, who threatened to smack us under the chin if anyone stepped out of line. We had a saying for him ( out of his hearing of course ) old mr. sefton is a good man, he goes to church on sunday, and prays to god to give him strength to cane the boys on monday. We were all afraid of him. don't know what he would have done today now that caning and punishment of children has been abolished. I left that school in 1941.
I went to Wybourn sec mod from 1948 to 1958 any one remember Miss Scott, Miss Hall, Mrs Garraway, Mr Taylor, Mr Quastel, Mr Lancaster, Mr Ledra
Mr Middlemas. Those were the days
antzinyapantz 04-03-2003, 22:00 I went to All Saints on Granville Road but new a lot of people from Myrtle Springs - I left in 1988
I went to Brook on Richmond Road, left in 88 (It's a new housing estate now, or at least it will be when they finish it!)
alchresearch 04-03-2003, 22:14 Wasn't one of the 'Thompson Twins' pop group a music teacher there?
Yeah, he was - he left the year we started IIRC
Norton Free then Meadowhead (the year it became Meadowhead, I think - 1989).
I went to All Saints on Granville Road. Left in 2001! Now go to Castle College.
Chloé
I went to Chaucer School and left in 1989. It was a good school back then, dont know what its like now, wouldn't like to even think about it!!!!

Derek Clayton 13-03-2003, 23:58 So, it's still there Laura, amazing, I would imagine it's probably looking pretty run down now, it was a new school when I was there. The headmaster was called Mr Rollinson, I still have my last school report signed by him.

I went to Anns Road and Carfield Sec Mod between 1949 and 1959

jansheff39 25-03-2003, 10:15 I went to Gleadless Valley comp it was bulldozed years ago, I left in 1979 cause Im OLD!
teffey_2003 25-03-2003, 10:51 I went to chaucer school and left in 1998, it's full of ****heads, and has produced a load of backstabbing, grudge holding idiots since 1996.....
kev_barber 25-03-2003, 14:41 Also went to Yewlands and left in 1983. Went to a reunion at the school last year and had a good laugh, although the boys toilets looked like they haven't had a clean in 20 yrs.
I went to Rowlinson by far the better school than what was then jordanthorpe. Yet they turned rowlinson into a college and kept the very run down jordanthorpe open. Two of my children now attend Meadowhead (jordanhtope) it is still as run down as ever and full to capacity.
i went to earl marshal and left in 1989, did anyone else go there :?:
I went to Frecheville Comp & left in 82 I know it closed down but I'm not sure if it is still standing. I can't belive I left school over 20 years ago what's that all about?

pink-kitten 04-04-2003, 12:32 I went to St. Mary's RC high in chesterfield, and left in '94, before moving to sheffield.
RustyBucket 08-04-2003, 06:40 I attended the old Greystones Sec Mod on Greystones Rd until 1966 (they think it is all over..it is now). Though lost in the mists of time and old age, I remember it as a very happy school. Anyone recall Mr Hyde who deserved a medal for trying to get us interested in Maths...or Miss Hornsby the French teacher and my first serious crush...ah happy days indeed.

I went to Anns Road 1959

Yes, the uniform was awful. Girls had the pink and white checked polyester blouses with little round collars. Yuk.

Small world, I went to Gleadless Valley as well, left in 1992... you may ask how come I went all the way up Norton to School when I live at Stannington, but in those days I lived at Walkley back in the mid-late 1980s, and went to GVSS because it was the only School with a special needs facility which my parents deemed suitable for me after visiting King Edward's, Tapton, Oakes Park and Bents Green.
If you ever want to find old School chums, sign up on
Friends Reunited (http://www.friends-reunited.co.uk) I think that's the right link, I'll check and edit it if it's wrong.
I went to Gleadless Valley which is sadly no longer there although can't say they were happy times. I can remember a few teachers but not there names. Can remember the head teacher, we used to call him Batman because he wore one of those black gowns that used to flow behind one he walked along the corridors. The other teacher I remember is Mr Howe who was the Georgraphy teacher and coincidentally I found out last year that the bloke who owns the static caravan in front of ours his is younger brother. I also remember the little shop on the back lane where we used sometimes buy stuff for the cooker lessons if we forgot anything.
Went to the Blue Coat in Liverpool. Left this summer.

SaxonLeigh 17-11-2003, 13:55 i went to St. Marys RC primary & infant school in High Green from 1989 to 1995. fantastic school i thought (because we didnt actually do any work) apart from paint pictures for the walls and do E.R.I.C (every one reads in class), oh, and practice readings for church on a tuesday morning. god, glazzy (rmb her Mrs Glaze) a jekal & hyde headteacher we had to put up with!
and then i went to All Saints RC High School on granville road from 1995 to 2000, was in form 7-11R, couldnt wait to leave but was very sad on the day espc because we went allowed to sign each others shirts, although we did when the whole year (almost) meet up at the peace gardens to run through the fountains (good times). i do regret not keeping in touch with my old school friends esp Hellen Aspinall.
Went to Prince Edwards, then Hurlfield. It merged with Ashleigh in my 3rd year and changed its name to Myrtle Springs. I think I left in 1990.

Gleadless Valley was crap... sorry but that was my opinion of it... the only thing that kept me sane the whole 5 years of being there was this lass called Helen Swann who was in my class for 4 out of the 5 years.
Haven't seen her for years now, and she isn't on the Friends Re-united site sadly.
Closest thing I've probably ever had to a real girlfriend to date, most of the other girls in the school were psychotic or at best a bit thick really.
Carfield Primary - quite a good school

There was only one thing wrong with Gleadless Valley back in my days there, some of the kids there were 'tards.

Whatever you decide, you need to have a back up.... I wanted to get into Silverdale but I understood that they were very selective so I had a back up which was Sheffield College.
On the results day, I got the grades for Silverdale and so I went there!!!
Are you thinking of A levels or a vocational course such as childcare or hairdressing?

That's ridiculous advice - languages at A level aren't that hard, as long as you pay attention and realise it takes quite a bit of work on your part outside of college. I know people who got C's at GCSE and still managed to pass the A-level fine.
That certainly is unfounded advice!!
Languages are all different as are people... everyone has a different grasp on languges..
I got a B in GCSE Spanish and Did A Level and got an A..

Went to St Anselm's College in Wirral... Same as Austin Healey, Ben Johnson and Matt Dawson!!
Left in 1999
Mosherchik 15-12-2003, 13:18 I went to All Saints! :D
Big up the All Saints massive!

Oooooooo get me the big academic :D
I went to good old Firth Park School, then went to Castle college for a year.
Left school in 2001 though, when it had been pointlessly been renamed to Firth Park Community College.

*Twinkle* 06-01-2004, 06:23 Languages are all different as are people... everyone has a different grasp on languges..
Which is why I told Sataninheels to be wary of doing one because of the way we were taught them at our school...
You know the tables in French? EG: RE verbs:
Prendre
Prends
and so on.....
Well, I had never seen them in my entire life, yet they were reciting them at Silverdale, as they had been shown them in year 9 and had known them ever since....
At my school, if we wanted to know how to say somethng, we asked the teacher. No magic formula... and thats what I mean when advising Sataninheels not to take a language!
