  1. Its popular because beer fans can take their mates in there to sample beers but they know they can still rely on the stuff they normally drink at reasonable prices, while said beer fan can continue drinking better stuff. Couple that with a bar manager who knows his stuff and brings in some really excellent guest beers and keeps the beer menu fresh.
  2. I went in after work the other day - very nice, great selection of real ale and bottles (with more to come hopefully!) Chatted to the co-owner a bit, really nice bloke, seemed to have his head screwed on and knew what he wanted for the place and the future. I'll be back in for sure.
  3. There's three manufacturers you can look up on the net; One is Frank Allart LTD (Birmingham) 2nd; croft architectural hardware 3rd; Perkin and Powell And for cheaper range stuff; Carlisle Brass (despite the name, they stock Chrome) Laidlaw will supply things from those suppliers for you. Laidlaw Architectural Ironmongers Unit 4 Sheffield Industrial Estate Surbiton Street Sheffield S9 2DN T: 0114 243 8916
  4. The windows previously only opened halfway up (hence the horizontal transom bar) now they open full length (they're the type that open towards you with the hinge at the bottom) The side cladding is apparently sandstone, like the smaller st pauls view next to it.
  5. @duhkula; It is obviously quite heavily biased in number towards women studying the Nursing degrees, but there are a fair few guys studying too. I very much doubt you'll be the only guy, put it that way!
  6. I'm using this every day now, works a treat. Saved me hours of standing in the rain at various bus stops!
  7. We don't have even the chain stores that "other towns" have, and we're a city for gods sake. As I posted in the other thread; This is the worst piece of journalism I've ever seen. Sensationalist nonsense from the Star purely to shift papers/website hits. Developer haven't commented, Council committed to work still - enabling works still going ahead. There's been "no date for construction to start" for about 2 months, why this has become news today is beggers belief. Although the fact its running with no byline suggests my original thought of wanting to sell papers.

  9. I've been using this all week and it's really really good. The data is very accurate (down to about 40 seconds so far) and the actual app is dead easy to use. I usually end up waiting around 20mins in the cold because the buses run so haphazardly but I've timed it perfectly every time I've caught one with this! Great work Stubbs!
  10. Because they rolled over and didn't bother to find an alternative venue? Generally I'm quite supportive of the current council (Scriven is a genii), but they do still frustrate me at times.
  11. From what I heard, Cole Brothers VETO'd the application, as one was submitted.
  12. Neither did the Mancs at the start, its something that needs to grow. People travel from all over the country to visit the Manchester markets at Christmas now. I think the one last year outside Cole Brothers was pretty successful, it seemed quite busy every day, it was relatively cheap too.
  13. Not sure why the German Market didn't return. Manchester's German Market has grown year on year, and now turns over around £50million in the 4 week period its on. If only Sheffield Council had an amount of ambition..
  14. The 83 might not make any money because it's always catching up to a late 88 taking all the customers
  15. Hehe, Yeah I hear it gets very busy at weekends.
