JoeP
before buying, check this out : http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/6319845.stm Vista is not going to be making an appearance in my house anytime now.
steev
Bleedin' Nora, I'd heard similar whispers but damn! Thanks Joe... Looks like I'll be bringing forward my Cedega experiment, & seeing if Photoshop 7 is tolerable through VMware.
JoeP
At least the devil claims to give you a good time before he acquires your soul.... I wonder if there's a whiff of brimstone to be detected when you open up the wrapper?

JoeP
Oh, is that what BS stands for?!? It's quite disturbing - some of that small print gives Microsoft incredible leeway. Just imagine you're a third party developer who's software Microsoft's OS determines is 'bad' in some way. Not that it would be deliberate, but the scope for Mr Cockup to pay a visit is large. RichD
even if you go to the country of purchase you'll find the price magically changes the second you put your credit card details in Indeed. And that's what they invented cash for! "That''l be $379 please." -=slaps down wad of $10 bills=- "There you go!" "Thank you, sir. Have a nice day." SpeedwayDan
yep, avoid at all costs, i'll be sticking to xp for years to come at this rate, maybe even changing to linux for certain things. Vista coupled with their ideas of drm makes for bleak reading
esme
Indeed. And that's what they invented cash for! "That''l be $379 please." -=slaps down wad of $10 bills=- "There you go!" "Thank you, sir. Have a nice day." we were talking about online purchases of downloadable media, but I do take the point and I agree, if at all possible pay cash
