  1. Congratulations from both StarSparkle and I on reaching 10 years! Best wishes to all past, present and future SFers!
  2. Another 'old lag' of Sheffield Forum passes from us. Starsparkle and I remember him from 'way back when' and I remember numerous discussions where he could always be relied upon to make strong points that I didn't always agree with but always respected the point of view. He seemed to me to be a decent bloke, articulate and knowledgable with his heart in the right place. Condolences and prayers from Starsparkle and me to his family and friends at this time.
  3. Bugger. Starsparkle flagged this up to me last night and we were both gutted and gobsmacked. As well as on SF, we also encountered Kerry on other fora in Sheffield. I remember her 'peeved cat' avatar - the 'cat with a crash helmet' - which always raised a smile for me. Thirty-Four is no age; my prayers and condolences with you and your family at this time. God Bless. From StarSparkle: I'm so very sorry. Kerry was such a lovely person, this is just shocking. RIP Kerry xx
  4. Indeed - don't put off saying or doing anything for those you love until another 'better' time; this could well be the only time you get.
  5. I only ever seem to come here now to post on threads like this, last time was Owdlad, now HappyHippy. After RubyD posted on Facebook I wanted to pop by and post. Sincere condolences from myself and Starsparkle - I didn't know HH that well but StarSparkle had more contact with him than me. It's a very young age - our thoughts and prayers are with his daughters, other family and friends at this time. I'll certainly remember him in my prayers. I don't really know what HH's spiritual beliefs were, but I find this piece from a 19th Century Canon to be very comforting, especially at times when death was sudden and unexpected. "Death is nothing at all. I have only slipped away into the next room. I am I, and you are you. Whatever we were to each other, that we still are. Call me by my old familiar name, speak to me in the easy way that you always used. Put no difference in your tone, wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was, let it be spoken without effect, without the trace of a shadow on it. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was; there is unbroken continuity. Whyshould I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just round the corner. All is well." Henry Scott Holland ( 1847-1918 ) Canon of St. Paul’s Cathedral
  6. Depoix, Sorry to hear that you're hors de combat at the moment - hope you get well again soon. And we should arrange another of those get togethers in the pub! Best wishes and get well soon from me and StarSparkle! Take care, Joe
  7. Me too! I also had a quick chuckle when it was played the second time whilst we left the chapel because there were so many of us! Lovely stuff!
  8. It was a lovely send-of for Jeff - like Thebanginman said - the place was full. it was a beautifully sunny day and a lovely service. We walked in to 'Jerusalem' and left with 'Always look on the bright side of life.' Jeff - God bless.
  9. It was a very good afternoon and it was good to meet people I've not seen for ages. The book of condolences is WELL excellent - especially the cover!
  10. Just heard that the funeral will be 13:10 hrs, NOT 13:30 - same location, however.
  11. I understand that he'd been suffering from chest pains in the time before he passed away.
  12. Forwarded from Kirky: A good lad A good laugh And a true good friend R.I.P. jeff kirky
  13. Forwarded from StarSparkle: Owdlad - I was deeply shocked and saddened earlier today when I heard of your passing. We never met but I knew of you as a huge character who helped to make SheffieldForum the friendly and fabulous place it was. I remember your postings with great fondness. You and Viking were a huge part of this Forum and I'd like to thing that the pair of you are currently getting re-acquainted. Warmest sympathies to your family and friends. RIP Owdlad.
  14. Forwarded from Jabberwocky: He sends his condolences to Owdlad's family and friends at this time.
  15. Forwarded from DaBouncer: Owdlad, you truly were a gentle and comical soul who will be missed I'm sure by all who you crossed paths with. You sir were a genuinely good guy and it pleases me to have known you online if not ever in person. I'm sad to hear that you've passed away but you're in a better place, no doubt cracking jokes with Viking (RIP) and watching us lot down here post these condolences and really having a good old laugh at our expense. RIP dude DaBouncer
