Demolished Sheffield

Recommended Posts

I recently brought a copy of ' Demolished Sheffield ' by Mick Higginbottom a very interesting book about some of Sheffield's lost buildings.  Over the years many fine buildings have been lost to redevelopment.some were close to be saved.

Which buildings or landmarks do you think should have been saved that could have enhanced the city landscape?

Norfolk Market Hall

Yes, it was a pity to lose this building; it was demolished in 1959.  Here it is on a postcard dated 1906, soon after the Haymarket frontage had been rebuilt in 1904-05.
