Longcol
Really interesting link Jim. Don't think many folk today realise that in 1901 Sheffield had a population of 450k crammed in to a space roughly N to S Hillsboyough Corner to Bramall Lane and E to W beginning of Attercliffe to Broomhill. No council estates existed then and very few private suburbs. Still remember the huge amount of buildings blackened by smoke when we moved here in the late 60's - probably most prominent were Town Hall, Cathedral and St Mary's on the roundabout near the Lane. prince al
Some interesting old buildings, replaced by soulless ugliness in the 60s and 70s. Urban vandalism. Things are looking better.
