I presumed it was an end-of-day gathering to celebrate the first day of the trams under SYMCA control.

 

But there is an election coming up, so maybe more to it than that? Who knows? 
 

(Or maybe they just all went out for a Friday night drink?).

Can anybody remember the Penny Farthing bicycle above the bay window of a shop on Glossop Road years ago  ?    ( I think it was on Glossop Rd , 

we used to look out for it from the bus on our way to the swimming baths. )
