Market Place On Facebook

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

My particular interest is bicycles, although I do look around at other things on offer

Your sensible opinions please, because I believe a lot of things advertised have been stolen !

I have a racing bike for sale on Market place it's a focus.

However, most of what I sell goes on there and I have sold a fair bit of un wanted items I no longer need.

The problem is its full of scammers.

The old " I'm busy with work I will send a courier to pick it up " message tells me straight away it's a scam.

I also keep an eye on there name usually one I can barely pronounce.

Once you get past the plankton who mess you about, it's ok, and free!!

eBay fees now for sellers is absolutely criminal.

eBay fees are lower than a bricks and mortar Auction room charge and give an item far more exposure.  Private sellers do not pay a fee for listing.  Just add 10% to what you want for the item in the starting price.

Potential buyers just need to have their wits about them and use common sense.  Facebook market place is intended for local sales.  Don't handover any money until you have seen and inspected the item you are interest in buying.

My point is that buyers or potential buyers should take due diligence.  Scammers prosper because too many people do not use common sense.

No. It was medical equipment he uses for himself.
