Bloody Cockerill - Banner Cross Area

Recommended Posts

Come on, who owns the bloody cockerill that starts up at 03:55 EVERY morning in the Banner Cross area.

It sounds like it's coming from the Banner Cross Hall/Henry Boot area.

Surely it must wake everyone in the area??!! I'm absolutely sick of it.

I’ve heard it around there.  I stayed in a holiday cottage last year with cockerel and his hen house right next door but didn’t mind it all.  I’d be more bothered about loud partying and late night  music than a cockerel.  ‘White noise’ is good for masking minor audible annoyances - a fan near the bed works.

I hear you redruby. Will have to start wearing ear plugs.

I'm a very poor sleeper and it wakes me every single morning for the last few months.

When I was a young un back in the late 50s the dawn chorus used to wake us up...

We just took it for granted...

When I started work at 4-30 am in the 60s, I used to walk up our road to catch the staff bus to work, on summer mornings the sound of the birds was deafening.

Got married and bought a house, same thing.

Lived there 20years listening to the birds.

Then moved, lived in the next house for 5 years, once again the birds used to have their morning sing song..

Now lived in my present house for 20 years, and not a sound.

In spite of there being plenty of trees and bushes, no dawn chorus.

The decline of the bird population has taken it's toll.

I now miss the morning chorus, never realised what a great sound it was....

Flapper, the "Padders Bar" parrot is a bluddy nuisance.

He squawks and insults all my customers...

Think yourself lucky Dick.

If the cockerel is on Council allotments, then this is against the allotment rules as stated in the Council Allotment handbook regulations. and the allotment officer should be notified. I had the same where I live a few years ago, 4am every summer morning. Went to find the allotment number and the owners removed it.

Assuming it’s the cockerel I’ve heard, there are allotments fairly close by but that’s not where the crowing is coming from.
I still think humans are responsible for far worse noise pollution than a poor old cockerel.
