New Bar At Banner Cross

Looks like a new bar is being fitted out at Banner Cross, by the name of "Holt".

 

Nice area for a night of boozing now with Itchy Pig, Dark Horse and Banner Cross pub, and hopefully this new place opening soon.

If its more than £2.50 for a pint though, expect people on here to be up in arms.

I recall when there were no pubs on Ecclesall Road between the Nursery Tavern and the Banner Cross Hotel, I wager that there are not that many actual pubs today.

One "pub", Porter Brook.

Aye. I paid 5 pound odd on a number of visits to the bar in the Dark Horse for lagers last week.

 

Don't really get the tightness over the price of a pint, especially when its a maybe a quid or so difference.

Aye. I paid 5 pound odd on a number of visits to the bar in the Dark Horse for lagers last week.

There was another pub on Eccy Rd closer to town, the long gone Devonshire Arms, just bellow and on the same side as the Nursery.

Yep - wasn’t there one called the Earl Grey on the opposite side to that also.

Yep, drank in there on occasion in the late 80's. It was quite a way down from the Nursery, not far with a few pints inside you though 😀

And one called The New Inn, there is a thread to The Earl Grey (2007), found it a few minutes ago.
