Wtf has this got to do with my original post? The man I'm talking about was called Carl. He sold shellfish in all the popular pubs around Sheffield and his catch phrases included "shag in bag" and " bees knees cut thin". Somebody must remember that.

He was a tall thin guy,wore a white smock and looked a bit like the actor Derek Guyler.

Yes, I remember him leso1. Always round the town centre pubs in the late 60s and early 70s if I remember correctly.

 

Another of his calls as I remember it was about jewish jockstraps, whatever they were :hihi:

Yeh, I remember him now, he used to visit the Pump and Whetstone at the weekend, didn't he sell the Green 'Un as well?

Remember Benny in the 70's around Crosspool & Broomhill pubs.Would always shout 'Any fooseed ' when he walked in.

Kershaws must have had a dozen or so seafood sellers in Sheffield in the 70's, are there any still around? I know the company is still about as I bought some cockles from one of their guys in a pub called the 5 lamps in Derby about 2 weeks ago.
