Occupy Sheffield Cathedral (Part 2)

Recommended Posts

The people who want this live in fantasy land ., Its your Socialist types who have no idea how the economy runs.

Socialist/Capitalist/Fascist or whatever 'ist', The Cathedral is no place for a protest of this kind or any kind, only if it directly involves the church. Renta scruff inc. chose this place because its a soft target used by gentle people and clergy. Why not go and occupy a bank HQ where they have security guards capable of forcibly removing them. I am a socialist but this load of useless scruffs have made me ashamed. i like to visit the cathedral when in town to light a candle for certain people I knew who have passed away.It is also a quiet place for reflection, but no, the unwashed scrubbers want to use it as a protest ground. Try a target where people fight back next time.........

This is what we have said from day one . If you want to protest about a bank ....... Go and protest OUTSIDE THE BANK .Not damage the finances of a charitable organisation like the cathedral , who have no connection with the banking set up . Pure cowardice on the part of OS to squat there . I ve no doubt the cathedral was chosen as the place of squat because OS assumed they were a soft target who wouldnt fight back like a bank would ,as you rightly say.

Like for example Occupy supporter and tax avoider Ken Livingstone.

He has been funnelling money through a company only paying a lower % of tax by fiddling it as corporation tax. That wouldn't be included in these figures cos it's not income tax.

There's no fiddle there. He's self employed and running a business, not working for an employer on PAYE. It's perfectly normal - even for Ken.

I have no problem with the wealthy having favourable tax breaks ,as they will still pay vastly more tax than the rest of us anyway . As for OS whining about the "Downtrodden" ,my view is this . A lot of people in this country wont get off their backsides and help themselves to make a better life ,they are happy to sit and do nothing and let the state support them . These are the people we have to be targeting , NOT the wealthy who already contribute massively into the public purse. But what you get with socialist protest groups like Occupy is a blinkered view that the problems lie with the wealthy ,who DO work ,and DO already contribute massively to the pot .

Yes and I've noticed the latest group Uncut UK are protesting outside Macdonalds tonight. Macdonalds who are giving some of these unemployed valuble work experience to put on their CV.

Have you noticed that none of these communists were protesting during the 90s when people borrowed silly amounts of money from the bank. And its all the banks fault for iresponsible lending too. No one ever takes responsiblity for thier own actions anymore just blame somebody else.

Another churchyard finally cleared. Still, to give the london protest its due it WAS actually in the financial district of a major conurbation.

Everyone has agreed. It's just that you're the only one who thinks that it's everyone else.

I agree with brianthedog, a summary of Occupy Sheffield's objectives would be useful on this first page.

wow new to this but these subjects are great

Yes, and the land they were on belonged to the Corporation of London, which was one of the organisations they were protesting against. They were responsible for the legal costs NOT the church, and they are actually a well funded organisation, mainly by the banks.

Plus they did actually actively protest against the banks and were on the ball with current events and communicating with the press re their activities and protests.

Totally different league to the morons in Sheffield who just picked a fight with the church, have no supporters and never protested about the things they were supposed to be protesting about.

Yeah ... like Dave from Scotland who at about half one this morning was telling the reporter he was afraid that his children would be implanted with micro-chips in years to come, whilst another protester fell of his pedal bike in the background.

Haven't got a link for it but I'm pretty sure It'll be on Harry Hill fairly soon.

I saw him interviewed and nearly fell off my chair laughing. The Wacky Bacca has obviously made him paranoid. :)

Oh dear!! I think that is part of the reason there was not much resistance, the organisers must have known it was a dead dog, it wasn't so much a protest anymore, it had just been overwhelmed by the waifs and strays and nutters it was a magnet for.

Anybody with half a brain would have realised that was going to happen.
