I always avoid that road , why don't you go down Greenhill avenue/Bocking Lane

And then turn right at the bottom and go along Abbey Lane ;)

I emphasize, going up Meadowhead is also a nightmare. The three lanes by the roundabout are not wide enough for the vans and buses that are never in the correct lane and then try to all cut across snarling it up for everybody.

From junction 29 of the M1 through Chesterfield it is mainly a fast road, then traffic hits meadowhead and there just is not a decent route into Sheffield. Chesterfield Road is a traffic light every 100 yards into Town.:rant:

What would you suggest as an answer to the problem?

The problem is that too many vehicles want to use the same piece of tarmac at the same time, obviously including you.

The road is only so wide, and can only accomodate a given number of vehicles. Without wholesale demolishion of half of Woodseats, this won't change the fact you are going to end up with a bottle neck. Busses need to stop, pedestrians need to cross, drivers need time to manouever into spaces.
