Looking for dog insurance for 2 dogs

Recommended Posts

All vets would ask for payment by owner for routine things, ie, ear infection,as they cannot possibly keep chasing insurance companies for loads of clients for small amounts. The problems arise when a large op is needed, that costs hundreds. The client could then have a direct claim, but there are some companies that they would have to refuse, and the debt still lies with the owner if the insurance company fails to pay.. More than is not too bad a company, but lots of people find that they pay insurance for years to find they are not covered for the one thing they need to make a large claim for. Read the policies carefully

The bill was not cheap, but I suppose in comparison with some neither was it expensive. A change of company has been a consideration so I'll watch this thread with interest.

we have our 2 with argos, and they give you a discount if you have more than 1 insured with them.

pet plan, life time plan. It is expensive but I have never had any problems and they cover quite a lot. It is important to read the small print!

Animals friends are very good and have a variety of covers to suit everyone. Have to regulary claim for Chewie without any probems.

And they regulary donate to Rain Rescue and other rescue :D

I`m with PDSA, got a discount for 2 dogs, chose the middle level, £70 excess which I thought was a bit steep tho.

I'm with Argos as well, Bailey broke her leg a couple of years ago and I never had to chase them for anything. The vets we use we had to pay upfront, but thats the vets choice, not the insurance. The specialist she had to see though accepted payment direct fromi insurane. All in all it cost them about 3k and the next year my policy went down by £1!

We're with Petplan, we've stayed with them at the moment with our pups, we originally had 2 jack russells that turned out to be on deaths door, one sadly passed away and our girl lived through it with a long stay at a specialist vet.

Their bill individually came to around 2-3k each and pet plan paid up for both, the only thing they didn't pay for was our boys death due to us not having a receipt of purchase.

We got another jack and sadly he took a turn for the worse and ended up with a week stay at our local vet and they paid up for his illness too, his bill was reaching a grand.

although I hear a lot of bad stuff about pet plan I think from my experience of them paying out it shows that they can't be all that bad, not to mention that this insurance was the 4 weeks free given by the vets.

Forgot to mention the price lol our 2 this year are costing on average £40a month for insurance which we think is really good considering their illness, we was expecting a lot more!
