I have done a search on here but nothing recent is coming up.

Basically i need to hire a personal trainer for my 17 year old son. He has never been a sporty type but has asked me to help him get fit and loose a bit of weight. ( i love the gym and running but feel out of my depth and dont want to cause more harm than good)

His diet is good but he has very little exercise.

If there is anyone out there who can help, please get in touch-thanks :)

Try contacting jack at [email protected] he is a professional rugby player who runs bootcamp classes, if he can't help he'll know someone who can, I hope this helps.

Hi Gnomi. I'm a self-employed personal trainer and I'm mobile so I could come right to your house. I've loads of equipment which I carry around with me.

I'd suggest doing some boxing activities as it's good exercise and, dare I say it, 'manly' enough to draw attention away from the actual exercise part and focus his energy on something specific.

Take a look at my website and feel free to get in touch if you have any questions.

Or ring me on 07921 238079

Regards,

Rob

Ive just seen this thread. Why not enrol him in a beginners kickboxing class?

Kicking (due to its nature) burns a lot more calories than punching and is much better for weight loss.

In Kickboxing we do punches, kicks, knees and elbows all against striking pads.

People have lost serious amounts of weight and have subsequently toned up just by coming to the Beginners kickboxing classes. If it is one-one you are after our Instructors can also be booked for a one-one Kickboxing/Fitness session.

Hey Gnomi,.

Like you say he's only 17 so you don't want to force him into something that will do more harm than good. Whats more when looking for a personal trainer make sure you find one that understands his plight.

For example don't go with the trainer that has great genetics and has never been overweight in his life, find one that has been there done that with pictures to prove it. These are the guys that can get you into shape!

I think you need to provide a little more info

Is he overweight? If so by how much?

You say his diet is good? Can you elaborate, how many calories is he eating what types of food etc.

I've recently dropped 11 kg (nearly 2 stone) and can tell you exercise was only a very small part of that. I was overeating like crazy and didn't even realise it.
