Our Petition for Tougher Sentencing over Sheffield Punch Death

Recommended Posts

Thank you for taking the time to read this post.

Back in October 2010 a family friend of mine was killed in an unprovoked attack outside a Sheffield nightclub. I'm sure a lot of you will have read the stories in the local and national news.

We feel that the sentence imposed is unjust - a 4 year sentence that will be reduced to 2 years on good behaviour. If, like us, you feel that manslaughter sentences do not fit the crime please sign our petition and share the link around.

I read this in the newspapers at the time, along with the countless other similar stories, where a thug has taken someone's precious life, and ripped families hearts apart, due to a punch on the street, usually 'under the influence'. Every week now, there's one or two of these type of stories in the local press. I hope your petition means we don't have to wait until the son of a top-ranking politician or judge is a victim before justice is done. As it's happening increasingly often, on an alarming scale, it's obvious that the current deterrent is useless.

I have had a discussion with a probation officer today. Nathan's killer, Adam Vincent Stott will be released on the 23rd October 2012 AT THE LATEST.

If he attends all the prison training courses and manages to convince the prison authorities he has learned to control his temper , he may be tranferred to an open prison after only one year.

Is this the value that society places on someone's life?
