Up until sixty or seventy years ago, it was quite the norm - many people over 50 today will have only seven great-grandparents.

 

Cultural fashion has rather turned against it in recent decades, but it is still perfectly legal. Provided you don't have repeated relationships between cousins, generation after generation, there is no genetic reason not to.

To say my auntie and uncle have been married for many many years, and are both 1st cousin's. i say it is legal to have a relationship with your cousin. But they never had children because of the blood line.
