"Yorkshire Ripper" applies for sentencing tariff

Recommended Posts

A nice misleading headline; he is not applying to be set free. He's asking that the courts, finally, will pass a ruling on whether or not he will be allowed to apply for parole and when that would be - the so-called "tariff."

In practice, if they decide to place a tariff - which they should- it will almost certainly be a whole-life tariff, as is normal for serial killers; besides which, while he remains a paranoid schizophrenic he would be held inside even if parole were granted, because his illness makes him a threat to society.

I spotted that too HeadingNorth after having a trawl around the net..

Just what point is he or his legal team trying to prove I wonder

Well, he is entitled to have a tariff set - he's still a human being. The law says he should know whether, and when, there is any chance of him ever being released.

You and I both know that the only sensible answer to the question is "never."

Too true.. but who is going to foot the bill I wonder for a seemingly pointless exercise ?

There are issues with Sutcliffe's crimes that means that may well mean that he is not entitled for a sentencing tariff, such as mutilation.

I saw it too, read a few other articles as well. Never knew that the ripper was caught after picking up a prostitute on Broomhall street and drove her to Melbourne Avenue where he was stopped and arrested.

Can I offer a better discription of Peter Sutcliffe ;)

they are quite free to disagree but he's still a very unstable mentally deranged human being that water and 250 volts were made for but "Thankfully ?" he has rights that are going to cost the nation ?? HOW MUCH ???

It's idiotic plea's like these that make our country more Americanised ..

"I can do it so I will":huh:

How has he managed to escape Inmates "Justice ?"

How much has he cost the country since he was imprisoned ??

im off ...... thats far too much for me in one post..

Wasn't he given 20X life sentences? 13 for the Murders, and 7 for the attempted murders on the women he left for dead, but who survived, maimed?

If we class the life sentence as only 15 years, that's 20 x 15 years, which = 300 years.

So, okay. fine. If he is now cured of the Schizophrenia, let him go back to prison and finish serving the sentence.

Then let him apply for his parole.

In the year 2381. Sorted!
