Bleeb73
Apologies for having to post this, but can't find any information on the cost of a ticket from/to a specific place. First Yorkshire only have a 49p per minute service, so don't want to call that. Found this thread www sheffieldforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=532058&highlight=cost+buses (Can't use the linky as I've not done 5 posts) though I've no idea which rate would apply. Anyone any idea? Going to Ponds Forge and expecting there to be no spaces in the car park, hence taking the bus. Or would it be cheaper to park in a NCP?!

RichJay
On the 94 or 95 it's £1.60. On the 123 it's £1.20.
ChrisS6
31/31A is your best bet. £1.40 single. This is the most regular service. It goes twice an hour from South Road. Just after the hour (31A) and just after the half hour (31). The other buses run at weird intervals that mean in effect you just have to turn up and wait. In town they stop opposite the co-op (the one near the market/courts) then next to the old Post Office (both of these are near Ponds Forge) then at the Interchange. The co-op stop is also used by the Freebie, which is handy ! On the way back they go on the hour (31) and half hour (31A) from the intechange then stops outside the old Mucky Duck / Boardwalk. After 18:00 there is only the 31 at ten-to the hour until 10:50. They go an 'adventurous' route, but this means thay avoid most traffic and so are usually quicker than the other routes (rarely more than 15 minutes from South Road to the Co-op) and much quicker in the rush hour. And they are never as packed as the other buses. The other buses I think its £1.20 on the Stagecoach (123) or £1.60 on First (94/95). If you get a return (NOT a day ticket) on the 94/95/123 I think you can get any of them back - but check with the driver. If you get a Day Ticket then you have to get the same company back. All these crawl along West Street stopping at every lamppost, then go a very bendy route (West Street / Leopold Street / Pinstone Street / top of the Moor) to Arundel Gate). One reason why the 31/31A is quicker. On the way back they all take 5/10 minutes to get along West Street before queueing up at the Hanover Street junction and the University roundabout for 5-10 minutes. damo
You could always walk - it would cost you nothing and its all downhill.

Looks like the 31/31A is the winner You could always walk - it would cost you nothing and its all downhill. I would do, but it's uphill on the way back. Also I'm going for a swim (lengths) so I'll probably be knackered from that anyway! Thanks for all the replies. Much appreciated.
