The York pub, Broomhill - now closed - what is going to happen to it?

Just what Broomhill needs: a classy, stylish, traditional-styled pub which serves real ale, three hand-pulled ciders and terrific food.

My wife and I had the steak there yesterday; very good indeed (although I think the omission of chips or potatoes is a bit naughty -these are grouped under side dishes which naturally, you pay extra for).

The table service was a nice touch (and we felt looked after) and I always like establishments whose kitchens are visible to the customers.

But the real winner is the decor: stunning.

Four of us, three of whom ate and including a bottle of wine spent £85 including tip.

We will definitely be back.

Went in and i must agree with what everyone else is saying- it looks amazing inside.

Didn't have any food so can't comment but the menu looks amazing and i do like the promise that they source everything within 15 miles of the venue.

Well i have to disagree with what a lot of people are saying. I went for sunday lunch with my partner and we was really dissapointed. I did like what they have done with the place, very well presented and smart looking, however on first arriving it took us ten mins before the barman even noticed us as he was too busy chatting to other members of staff at the other end of the bar. When we eventually went to sit down we had to ask a waitress to clean a table for us as most were dirty (wasnt exetremly busy either). We both ordered roasts (mine beef o/h pork) My beef was really dissapointing, i had the most fatty part of the joint couldnt hardly eat any of it, the vegetables were not cooked enough, really hard and we had to ask for extra gravy. We did mention this to one of the waitresses who was really helpfull and mentioned this to a manager. However we didnt get no appology of the manger, just the bill. So first impressions was not the best. Dont think we will try the food out again anytime soon but will go for drinks, not half as good as the old house but im sure it will improve in time.

Went last night to eat there with my wife and a friend. All going well until I found a long curly blonde hair in my burger :(

The manager did apologise, cancel my food charge, and ask if there was anything else he could get me or do for me, so that was a good response; and he looked genuinely upset this had happened, which is a good sign.

Drinks were nice, decor is nice, and I'll go back there. To drink. And socialise. And maybe the Sunday quiz :)
