mrmist
We get quite a few through the mail box along with our post. Not many outside, but some. I can't say it bothers me, though I guess it would be more environmentally friendly to actually keep them.
custardcream
I live near Lane Top and our postman/woman is the same..im sure the amount that gets thrown away nationaly on a weekly basis adds up to a few quid..no wonder the post offices are shutting down if they are wasting money like this
SheShe
This reminds me of my lovely mum. She always picked them up and when she died I brought the jar she put them in home. I haven't used them all yet and she's been gone 10 years bless her. Waste not want not she used to say.
alchresearch
The post office moved to red rubberbands a couple of years ago after a campaign about postmen dropping bands. The red bands are more bio-degradable than the old brown ones and also it's obvious who's dropped them when you complain. Amazing. So instead of telling the posties to bring them back (How much does Royal Mail spend on rubber bands each year?) they sourced a more expensive alternative? No wonder its going under. alchresearch
I've recently sent three packages recorded delivery. The postmen didn't bother to get signatures of any of them. I've logged a complaint for each. How much time and money is going to be spent investigating these just because the postman couldn't be bothered to obtain a signature? Captain_Scarlet
Dunno if there's new policy in place but postmen or sorting offices use an extraordinary amount of red rubber bands. We've got got a ball of rubber bands going on now we receive that many. One left a pile of nearly 200 on the cabinet a week ago; couldn't he take them back to sorting office for reuse?
