Yes DIVA.

You will have to ask the Lib Dems and Greens what their policies on bin emptying are.

I have asked the Lib Dems this is what was said I copy and post the response

Thankyou for taking the time to email me on this important matter. I am afraid that you have been mislead by the local Labour Party who are trying to mislead people in their election leaflets.

I can confirm the Liberal Democrats have no plans to change the weekly bin collection. In fact we have never said anything other than we will keep the weekly collection.

The only change we are making on collection of rubbish is to improve and extend kerbside recycling to include either glass or cans. We are the only party to go into the election with this a costed policy. All the other parties voted aginst this when we put this to council just 2 months ago.

Once again many thanks for taking the time to email me on this issue and I hope that my answer gives you a clear indication of the Liberals Democrats policy on this issue.

Best wishes

Cllr Paul Scriven

Leader, Sheffield Liberal Democrats.

Very interesting poll at the top of this thread.

In the event of a (very probable) hung council just which unholy alliance will be left in charge.

Lib/dems in with the Greens?

Labour in with the Cons & BNP?

surely not!!!!!!

Should there by any BNP councillor elected (which as it happens is unlikely) I think you will find that none of the other parties (Labour, Lib Dem, Green, Conservative or Independent) will form an alliance with this odious so-called political party.

As for your prediction of a probable hung council.....well, these are probably the most interesting council elections in Sheffield for some time, and whilst it is interesting to speculate on the possible permutations, I think you'll find that all the parties are awaiting the actual results*.

*Voting takes place on Thu 01 May. The counting of the votes and announcements of the results will be on Fri 02 May.

Any idea when the results for Sheffield will start to filter through?

Surely 50 people aren't serious about voting BNP, I'm going for Urmmmmmmmmmmm I'm not too sure they all seem like much of a muchness. Will probably end up going for Labour.

I think its more likely representative of the peedoff section of the voters which seems quite high in Sheffield.

It's that time of year again. When people you don't know or like turn up on your doorstep in badly fitting suits trying to get themselves validated by the good people of Sheffield.

The question is which one will you validate and why ?

Personally I'm a Tory voter. They however will not get elected so I will go with the only alternative and thats the Lib-Dems.

There is a reason we go into a little curtained booth at voting time and then put the folded result into a box with a padlock on - not anybody elses business who anyone votes for!

What 51 numpties said they're voting British Nutter's Party? (BNP)!! :loopy:

It's a known fact there's more chance of Gordon Brown being forced to resign than them getting in.

That is all very well but unless people know who might be getting into bed (metaphorically of course) with the party they intend to vote for they could be electing a coalition that repels them.

It would be rather like voting Labour on the promise from Blair that he would serve a full term and finding power had been handed over to a useless idiot like Gordon Brown instead.
