Texas   10 #111 Posted February 22, 2013 Sammy Clark and myself were in the same class at Pye Bank, but I must say we didn't get on too well. We had a bit of a fracas on a couple of occasions. One time I broke his glasses and for that I got the stick off of old 'Speighty'. Four strokes. And could it be that the first name of Oxley could be Tony? And did he go into the Army, study percussion at Kneller Hall, and subsequently become the famous jazz musician?
 Share this content via...

PYEBANKBOY Â Â 10 #114 Posted February 23, 2013 Hiya, I was at Pye Bank from 1951 to 1957 before going on to Rowlinson Tech. at Norton (hell of a journey from Pitsmoor) and am now aged 66. Does anyone remember Alan Lines who lived on Marcus St. at the top of Oborne St. I think his dad worked for British Rail, but also cleaned windows in the area. I don,t remember many names from Pye Bank until I actually see them but a girl called Susan Lister rings a bell.
 Share this content via...

A couple more names that spring to mind are Freddie & Susan Platts and a fruit & veg. trader called Bill Anderton who had a horse & cart. Â I remember Bill Anderton I lived on Fitzalan St the reason I mentioned him is the horse he used to pull the cart died and he got a younger horse he was loading the cart one day at the bottom of the entry that went to the yard where he kept the fruit and veg.something scared the horse and it boltted up Fitzalan St spreading fruit and veg.all over the place, three doors below that entry a pal of mine lived George bland did you happen to know him? Â ---------- Post added 14-10-2013 at 11:48 ---------- Â I lived there as a baby in 1955/56/57 but it is long gone. Â I think it was on a hill and there was a shop at the top of the hill? Â It ran from Rock St across Fitzalan st passed the top of Denholme St and Orbourne st.I lived on Fitzalan st in a yard of 5 houses and their front doors was on Marcus St.Fox hill runs into Rock St and both are still there,so if you stand at the bottom of Fox hill look across Rock St that's where Marcus St started hope it helps out
 Share this content via...
