  1. If you are still in need of childcare, we might be able to help you. My assistant is available to provide evening care and she has all the necessary checks and registration you require, aswell as being a lovely young lady with plenty of experience :-)
  2. Hi everyone, I'm a childminder in S5, near to the Northern General Hospital. We have 1 new vacancy for a child under 5 and a couple of new vacancies for children aged 5-11. School collection and drop offs also available to St Catherines R C Primary, Hucklow Primary and collection only from Watercliffe Meadows. Please message me with any enquiries. Thanks Hannah
  3. Thanks for that Daven. I'll have to go and take a look at the rennovation works :-)
  4. Has anyone heard the hourly chime of bell near to Barnsley Road? It has been chiming on the hour, every hour from 8am until 8/9pm every day for about 4 months now. It sounds beautiful and makes me feel like I live in a quaint village rather than in a busy city. I would like to know where abouts it is coming from; possibly the norther general clock tower or maybe st cuthberts church. Does anyone know?
  5. daddy lee, do you know what time this is on from and till and if there is any charge? Thanks
  6. Childminding and Babysitting in S5. I'm an Ofsted registered childminder based next to Barnsley Road and the Northern General hospital. I currently have 2 available part time childcare places for children aged 6 years and over for after school collection and also for children aged 0-11 on Saturdays from 10am until 3pm. I can currently collect from St Catherines Primary and may be able to service Firs Hill Primary but from December 2010 I will be available to collect from any local primary school. Whilst my registered assistant currently collects and will continue to collect from Hinde House infant and junior. Child care is then available until 9pm on Monday, Tuesday and Friday and until 6pm Wednesday and Thursday. If you have any enquiries please message me. Thanks Hannah
  7. You'd need to contact the Sheffield information link as a starting point and they will inform you on the next information session that is running, where you can meet the registration team and get given all the the information about what you will need to do next. There are quite a few mandatory courses, some are free and some have a small fee - £40 to £100, but they are worth it as you can't start without them. As for expense, it's as expensive as you can afford e.g. whether you buy resources new or second hand and how creative you are with your resources i.e. how many uses can you give one game or toy? Time scales all depend on the time of year you start the registration process as very few courses run during the summer and also how long your CRB's take to be cleared - mine took nearly a year from start to finish but is easily accomplishable within 6-9 months. And as far as getting a customer base it is just a case of gettting out there, get to know people, get to find out what people want in your area, contact local schools you can service, and local businesses you can approach to advertise and offer care for local workers and of course the internet and SID, use the websites to their full potencial and you'll get there if you're determined enough. Good luck:)
  8. Hi Fooman, Do you have any specific queries? I'm just registered in the last 12 months if you need to clarify anything:)

  10. I am recently registered with Ofsted, and for me it took approx 11 months from my initial enquiries to being fully registration with Ofsted. It can be done in a shorter space of time depending on the time of year, as no courses run through the summer months and there are obvious delays around christmas and new year. As far as its ease.....its not easy, but you can make it as easy as possible by doing as much research and planning in the initial stages, so when it comes to starting up, you are as knowledgable as possible. As for not driving and having pets, you could promote the benefits of these aspects e.g. walking to school/nursery and to the park, using public transport, rather than focus on any negatives. Good luck if you decide to go ahead
  11. Childminders are also self employed and so unfortunately there isn't such a minimum wage. After expenses, unpaid sickness, unpaid holidays, and the usual tax and national insurance, our net income per hour may or may not be above minimum wage, depending on how much we spend on resources and outings and of course how many children you care for. I love my job though so no complaints from me
  12. The fact that dog mess is so toxic it can blind children should be enough to put some sort of taxing on pets like cars...dont you think?
  13. Hi, I'm not sure if there are many childminders offering those hours, but well done if you have found one. I'm a childminder in S5, next to the Northern General Hospital. I work until 9pm Monday to Friday but offer a late night service on the first friday of every month until 11pm. On saturdays I also work but only until 4.30pm. If those times are any use to you at all then let me know :-) Thanks Hannah
  14. Went to Wokmania, late on a saturday night and the food was going a little crispy...not too good, but jumbo's has never let me down
