  1. I agree, and it's not what I started this thread for. I've found out what happened and don't care about anyone's opinion on it - so if the mods could close this thread that'd be super.
  2. and the drinkers and the smokers and the druggies and the fatties. Everyone is an idiot.
  3. There's no where suitable for a crossing. There are a lot of side roads / car park entrances as you come up Beech Hill Road. The first place I can see where a crossing could go is here - which I suspect if you walked up to that point now then it'd be easier to cross. Whereabouts are you walking from / to - if you're walking to Broomhill - then why do you need to Glossop Road? If crossing Beech Hill Road is so dangerous then just walk up either side of it until it meets Whitham Road.
  4. Yes, this is me just being nosy. I've had a quick look on news sites, and can't see anything. I drove over there at around 21:30, as the road flattens out at the top (where the soft verges are that people like to park on) there were a lot of parked cars (odd for that late at night). There was an ambulance, and quite a few police vehicles. Two police ( / mountain rescue?) Land Rovers. A mountain rescuer (I think), was slowing traffic and asking us to drive very slowly past the ambulance. There was also a recovery truck that looked to be lining up to recover a car, but it didn't look like anything had left the road or there'd been any sort of collision.
  5. Sounds like an issue with SnapChat. I've had my Nexus 4 since release, and I've only known it do a random reboot once.
  6. Have you said this the wrong way round, I've not found them to be self clearing. I had an intermittent fault on steering wheel airbag on my Xsara VTS (slip ring.. I didn't fancy a new COM2000 unit), when the connection played up it'd throw the light on - and stay on. On manually clearing the fault, it'd go off - and stay off until the next time the connection played up. If they were self clearing, then there'd be no point reseting them at all.
  7. Or just hang up, you're wasting your own time as well as theirs.
  8. Which part of it / building. It's quite spread out.
  9. You're welcome. Hope you get it sorted eBay is often the best for parts like these. The model number will be written on a label that should be on the bottom of the laptop.
  10. What model of laptop is it? Spec is just the specification of the laptop, so describes what CPU it has, how much memory (RAM), how much hard drive space, what kind of graphics chip etc. Keyboards can be replaced, they're usually fairly easy - just a couple of screws and a ribbon cable, and the repair manuals for most laptops can be found easily online. It needing the charger in all the time probably means that the battery is kaputt. You can just buy a new battery to fix that. Prices vary depending on the model of laptop. If you get a new a battery, be aware that it is heat that ruins them. If you are using the laptop plugged in all the time, even though there is a battery in there, if possible remove the battery. Little things like that will mean that the new battery will last longer - just be careful not to unplug the charger whilst it's on and there's no battery in there!
  11. You're welcome. Delivery will be £9.99. I've had my Nexus 4 since release and am very happy with it. I'm very fond of stock Android 4.x (the earlier versions were a bit rough round the edges UI wise).
  12. I have a Nexus 4, and battery life isn't something I worry about. An advantage of the Nexus phones is the lack of bloat that manufacturers like Samsung load into the operating system, stuff you don't need/use but can't turn off so still wastes power. Also - the Nexus devices get the latest versions of Android much quicker. The Nexus 4 has had Android 4.3 for a while now, and that update also did improve battery life. I've just checked on my phone now and it's been on battery for 16 and a half hours, and is currently at 58%. That's stock Android, no silly power save apps / memory management. You can either get a new SIM from Orange, or pop into any decent phone repair shop and they'd be able to trim the SIM for you - it's a simple task using a device that looks a bit like a stapler.
  13. The 8GB will do all (and more) that the Ace is doing - so I guess you don't need to get the 16GB. Like I said that though, it's always handy to have too much space than not enough. Depends how critical that extra cost is I guess.
  14. I would get the 16GB, if she's going to put a lot of music / media on it - then it's handy to have the extra space. To protect it, I'd recommend; http://www.evolutivelabs.com/ for the screen / back and http://www.amazon.co.uk/Poetic-Borderline-Bumper-Google-Warranty/dp/B00AG0D52O for the edges. Or just roll without
  15. The GPU outputting the signal needs to support this, what chip is in that laptop - check the tech specs to see if it's supported.
  16. Why not? I write work force software for mobile devices, we mainly deal with Android but there are some companies out there that write for iOS. I don't see why you are trying to ridicule Micky ET for having to use software written for iOS. Chances are that the software will take the photo and then send it back as part of a job sheet or something, so there's not an option to 'use a proper camera' or faff about saving a jpg and exporting it into the app. Micky - does it have to be run on an iPad, could it be run on an iPhone instead? If so then this could be an option? http://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/phones-broadband-gps/mobile-phones-and-broadband/mobile-phone-accessories/manfrotto-klyp-iphone-4-4s-case-with-ml-120-led-light-20145931-pdt.html
  17. I'm not condoning the actions of the driver, but if you're that worried about it.. shave some speed off and hop up onto the cycle path instead. I cycle down there most days and slow right down when going through there and if needed, use the cycle path. Pointless contacting the council, they'll just tell you to use the cycle path!
  18. I don't understand your point. In reverse, you have less visibility. So how is it safer to reverse from an area where there is no traffic (the drive) to an area where there is a lot of traffic (a main road)? It is safer the other way round, and the highway code states that.
  19. I appreciate that it's not going to be easy. Some people just don't care how their actions effect others. The whining I was on about was people having a go at Royal Mail. Sorry if it sounded like I was trying to have a pop at you, I wasn't. I don't understand why if a dog has attacked someone twice that it's not been taken away as a dangerous dog. Crazy.
  20. RM will do what they need to do to protect their staff. In this case, that means suspending deliveries. RM don't have the power to go and 'punish the dog owner' nor is it in their remit to do so. If the dog was in a single garden, then they could suspend deliveries to just that one house - but I remember reading earlier in this thread there are no fences between the front gardens of the houses and the dog just wonders around. Instead of whining on here, or at RM - go speak to the people who own the dog - find a solution instead of expecting everyone else to.
  21. I've always thought of it as being in Crookes. To clear it up I've looked on the council website (https://www.sheffield.gov.uk/your-city-council/elections/wards.html) and it seems that it's half and half!
  22. Take it back to the Apple store, if it's 5 months old and not been abused then they should give you a new one. They're good like that.
