  2. Remember it well I went to see the Happy Mondays at the New York Palladium on 1st May 1981 rather than being subjected to that programme about monster trucks on ITV on the 2nd May 1981
  3. We didnt do to bad the previous year shows what a bit of success can do. Wolves..............2808.9 Sheff Utd...........2316.3 Nottingham For...2046.4 Derby Cty..........2009.9 Sheffield Wed.....1922.3 Also love AltyOwls comments with regards to the above startling revelation We've always had great away support, so I'm actually surprised United have got more than Wednesday's average away support. Oh well, we'll overtake you home and away support next season. Here we are as of this morning. 1 Newcastle United (1) 22 945735 49644 42988 52387 82.0% 2 Derby County (15) 22 640664 33010 29121 33597 86.6% 3 Sheffield United (11) 22 551804 29210 25082 32609 76.9% 4 Nottingham Forest (3) 22 525521 29155 23887 30602 78.0% 5 Leicester City (5) 22 520456 31759 23657 32500 72.7% 6 West Bromwich Albion (2) 22 485288 24924 22059 28003 78.7% 7 Sheffield Wednesday (22) 21 460516 30644 21929 39814 55.0%
  4. I went to the Barnsley game and would be obliged if you could point me in the direction of where you obtained your information from with regards to the figure of 700 away supporters or is it just a pure fabrication on your part with the intention to get a rise as normal.
  5. Obviously he is not the only team in Sheffield to average 30K plus in the last 40 years or in fact since wednsday averaged 31,461 in 1967/1968 is the Blades with 33,189 in 1971/72 and 30,512 in 2006/2007.
  6. If Dave Richards was worth 340M I think he would have a grander house than the one I pass every night on the 82 bus. I think he might have nearer £3M and thats probably more to do with his large salary from the FA over the last decade rather than his successful running of 3 Star Enginnering. Now that nice Mr Allen is worth at least £60M
  7. Kamara is a boro fan and went to school with Steve Gibson the boro chairman
  8. We are talking about Valad the first quote was from propertyweek.com The second quote was from Business Day in the Sydney Morning Herald. I think the author an Australian business commentator was taking a bit of poetic licence with the company's name.
  9. They will have done well they were only released 2 1/2 months ago
  10. Valad are history as far as Mcabe are concerned Valad to settle debt to McCabe by raising new equity 17:56 | 24.09.09 By James Whitmore Valad Property Group has avoided handing over 19.9% control to Kevin McCabe by raising money from a sale of shares to pay him off. McCabe scores a deal on way out SCOTT ROCHFORT October 6, 2009 . Unorthodox lending habits ... Phil Sullivan’s City Pacific. Illustration: John Shakespeare Debt-stricken Valad Property took advantage of yesterday's holiday to announce the departure of another two directors, writes Scott Rochfort. The debt-stricken Valad Property Group (Invalid Group) took advantage of the Labour Day holiday yesterday to announce the departure of another two directors, Kevin McCabe and Ian Robertson. Apparently the resignations were all down to ''the reduction in size and scale of the group that has occurred since 2008''. After all, Invalid's share price has collapsed 94 per cent since its peak. Sadly, McCabe will no longer be around for the next annual meeting to explain the deal he wrapped up with Invalid (aka Vlad the Impaled) last week, which stemmed from its original $2 billion purchase of his Scarborough property group in Britain in 2007. Invalid, now valued at about $225 million in the sharemarket, was forced last month to raise an additional $59.5 million from a one for four entitlement offer and institutional placement (at 10c a security). This helped pay the final £29.5 million ($54 million) payment McCabe was entitled to as part of the original transaction. The payment will cancel out an earlier proposal for the chairman of Sheffield United football club to take a 19.9 per cent equity stake in the cash-strapped company in lieu of a bulk of the cash payment. When Invalid first announced its purchase of McCabe's company in 2007, it raised $1.2 billion in a capital raising at $1.92 a security. At the time, Invalid's executive director Peter Hurley boasted: ''While Scarborough has been tremendously successful to date under private ownership, it will now be able to pursue additional business opportunities with Valad's stronger balance sheet.'' Aside from having to cough up more money to McCabe, Invalid has been forced to hive off the bulk of the assets acquired from Scarborough into a joint venture with its lender the Bank of Scotland. Obviously going by yesterday's announcement, McCabe and his former Bank of Scotland comrade Robertson both reckon Invalid has a bright future.
  11. Well wednesday were running within their means due to the sales of Majid, Brunt and Whelan but with no player sales last year they lost £3.7M . No big sales in the current financial year yet so who knows how they are currently performing but I would hazzard a guess at unprofitably.
  12. Recently closed ? Is five years ago long enough. The owner decided to redevelop the hotel into appartments. What are the others ?
  13. Thats no child apparently according to Les thats the famous Tonto of owlstalk.
  14. Thats one then for the avoidance of doubt and a succesful one too. And dont think for one minute that if it had been Wigan or Fulham that had their positions reversed with ours that they would not have taken the same action, as both Messrs Whelan and Fayed indicated that this would be the case.
  15. Could you expand on constant law-suits and point me in the direction of any supporting information to back this up. Here is a definition of constant to help you. con·stant (knstnt) adj. 1. Continually occurring; persistent. 2. Regularly recurring: plagued by constant interruptions.
  16. I dont believe for one minute that Dave Allen jumped on the bandwagon to make a quick buck. I think against his better judgement that he was co-erced by the existing board at the time as he was seen as a local successful businessman in the leisure industry.
  17. Looks as though Tawny on Owlsmad doesnt share you optimism So it seems as expected ... That the investors have (removed) off......... We are in deep s hit financially......... And anyone with half a realistic brain can see we're going down.... Heard a rumour that the league position didn't help...... With all the negatives of administration........and there are plenty... its surely the only thing left.. Cue the stay positive abuse..
  18. A most forgettable day. Picked up by the late Steve Chapman at 09.30 a.m in his cortina 1600e and the five of us blades in the car were stood on the kop until 5 mins before the end when we retired to the Cutlers (via the Far lees). Remember getting in at 11.30 p.m with my Wednesday supporting father attempting to console me with the fact that G Boycott had scored a ton against the Windies.
  19. As for your East End hotel... time will tell, but from the outside, you might have been better spending the cash on Killa's contract. Unless you do DHSS, I suppose. It would appear the general pubic like our east end hotel http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Hotel_Review-g186364-d1200886-Reviews-Copthorne_Sheffield-Sheffield_South_Yorkshire_England.html The currently number 1 rated hotel out of 59 in Sheffield
  20. Haviing read the article one word comes to mind delusional. 1) 400,000 wednesday supporters in Sheffield ? 2) John Sheridan better than Paul Scholes at his best ? I didnt see those quotes coming
  21. I picked Tom mcallister as prior to his injury in my opinion he was the best performing goalkeeper at the lane from Hodginson to the present day.I think I selected an unbiased team with five outfield players from each club based on my viewing over the last 40 years.

  23. According to the SUFC accounts for the year ended 30 June 2008 the club made charitable donations of £30,135. As a regular atendee of the Chris Fund Ball in aid of the Childrens Hospital I can confirm that SUFC have regularily donated a cheque of £2000 on the night.
  24. Its very simple really a quick look at the SWFC corporate brochure for 2009/2010 reveals that boxes are 24K + Vat for a centre box and £22k + VAT for a wing perhaps Mooseys firm are getting shafted for bringing the previous much maligned chairman on board.
