  1. I totally agree, I was disappointed that more current issues werent discussed last night.
  2. BBC's newsnight on Wednesday night was interesting, it explored the question "white working class have no voice" http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00njxbx/Newsnight_21_10_2009/
  3. Well I watched it - what a witch hunt - the guy was mercilessly bullied. It amazed me how he managed to get any words out after being attacked from all sides. Jack Straw just confirmed what I already thought about this labour government. The one saving grace of the night for me was Baroness Warsi.
  4. Maybe, but Ive seen cracks appear with hardened labour politicians when under pressure on question time, I can imagine the pressure will be intense on NG tonight
  5. Your right bf, but it does give you an idea of the person, judging by their reactions and responses to certain questions. Its not not always possible to hide everything
  6. Think there's been a lot of hate tonight, outside the BBC, I'm looking forward to the debate because I havent heard NG talk. I do hope he gets the chance. Tony Benn said on Five Live earlier, just because we dont agree with what he says is no reason to bann him
  7. I think I'd go with "the current government is doing something very wrong" bit.
  8. I'd go with this and very much hope it turns out this way, as has been said in an earlier post, it would have been nice to see Ian Hislop on the panel.
  9. I hope this is not the case, I would like to be given the opportunity to make up my own mind.
  10. I'm listening to five live at the moment, cant believe whats going on. Apparently 25 people have been escored out of the BBC and one arrest.
  11. Are we really living longer? Both my parents died in their late 60's, and so did my brother. Maybe we have more of an aging populaltion because we are getting better at medicine and curing disease, not as many babies dieing at birth. etc etc
  12. Some metal music seems to carry a deeply political theme, starting with Black Sabbaths - War Pigs - System of a Downs - BYOB Metallicas 'and justice for all' album, Megadeths - Peace sells, Lamb of Gods -Sacrament - the list is endless.
  13. really, really peeved we missed this we were in Whitby at the time, went last year and had such a good time, finished off our night with a half of the last rites :-S Loved the cider, tried making it last year, failed miserably
  14. Danzig - Devils Plaything ZZ Top - gimme all your lovin Stone Sour - Made of scars
  15. Kinda like these lyrics, Testaments, Return to Serenity I'm gonna take you To a place far from here No one will see us Watch the pain as it disappears No time for anger No time for despair Won't you come with me There's a room for us there This innocent beauty My words can't describe This rebirth purity Brings a sullen tear right to your eyes No time for anger No time for despair Please let me take you 'cause I'm already there I'm so alone My head's my home I'll return to serenity These are pretty good too - So close, no matter how far Couldn't be much more from the heart Forever trusting who we are and nothing else matters Never opened myself this way Life is ours, we live it our way All these words I don't just say and nothing else matters Trust I seek and I find in you Every day for us something new Open mind for a different view and nothing else matters never cared for what they do never cared for what they know but I know So close, no matter how far Couldn't be much more from the heart Forever trusting who we are and nothing else matters
  16. [quote Anyway, underrated? Band? How about musician? One day, I'm sure, Lemmy will be credited with inventing a new style of bass playing. Maybe Lemmy - I'm amazed he's still alive, considering his hardrock lifestyle of cigarettes, beer, whisky and wild wild women.....plus a whole load of other unmentionables :-) Always thought Zak Wyldes - Black Label Society could have been much bigger than they were, got to say though, that one of my favourite local bands, I'm sure, are vastly underrated - Strongheart, one of the best drummers around in Bobby Arechiga
  17. I dont know very much about these incinerators,or the one being built in chesterfield, am definately going to have to read up on them. Its all a little worrying, there must be a strong environmental issue with them when the greenpeace guy scaled the one in Sheffield to protest, think it was a few years ago, but cant remember what the outcome was.
  18. Got it - Clapton and BB King , hope this link works, enjoy
  19. It's in the Evenings Out section Halibut, sorry not sure how to post link
  20. I think Tom Rodwell's on at the Coach & Horses in Dronfield on Sunday. Going down there with my oh, not sure what time though, will have to check it out.
  21. Try asking Chris Rea I do believe he's been on the Road to Hell a few times, along with AC/DC although I think they took the highway.
