  1. My parents have a whippet and a italian greyhound. They often walk around Ewden so are probably the ones spotted walking by the OP. The italian greyhound is a giddy little kipper who runs riot and is the only dog I know brave enough to pinch food out of my bullmastiff's bowl She once broke a toe, but its never stopped her from chasing...and catching pheasants and rabbits to my mothers dismay
  2. Hmm, heres another mystery. A local firm who produce titanium rotor blades recently had lots of these stolen. When were these found?
  3. S35 the same. Our path is lethal despite being cleared and gritted so careful does it this morning.
  4. Lets just imagine the camera man stopped filming , and shouted at the girl (quite justifiably). Girl goes home, maybe upset, and tells Dad, some guy was behind the bushes/fence in the park, with a camera and was shouting at her. What do you think the potential outcome of that would be? The Parents probably wouldn't have believed it without seeing it with their own eyes as the girl is such an "animal lover". Filming was the right thing to do in my opinion.
  5. But I guess many would question why little old OAP is venturing out in 2 ft of snow for 4 breadcakes and a bottle of milk? Speaking as someone who has to help repair all the broken hips, I'd rather them stock up while they can
  6. Sods law bites again. Tomorrow I am supposed to be going to collect my new 4X4. Whats betting I cant my trade in to dealership? Mel x
  7. the main road through oughtibridge and wharncliffe side is absolutely clear, cannot imagin it is suddenly unpassable further on.

  9. Hi, With this really cold weather just wondered if someone can give their opinion on this. I have 2 guinea pigs who live in a very big outdoor cage. The cage is a homemade solid wood one with two enclosed areas with large open run bit in the middle. The cage is off the ground and sits in a really sheltered corned against 2 walls. There is no draught at all anywhere in the cage, and is totally dry. The enclosed areas are lined with insulating underlay, then they have a cardboard box, in a box, stuffed to top with hay. The run is also stuffed with hay. In the past 2 days because i was worried I covered the whole thing but was concerned as both piggies were laid out on top of hay in run bit looking too hot the next morning. I am going to leave the cover off, please tell me they wont freeze.
  10. I drove past this today too perry, Sounded like a jumbo jet was about to land on the car, then I saw the gas shooting up too. They surely shouldnt have let people keep driving next to it should they. I have pondered on this all day, and it seems mighty dangerous to me
  11. My other half having real problems getting through oughtibridge towards wharncliffe side. Of course not helped by diversions all of which involve steep hills. He semed to think buses aren't even attempting it.
  12. Hi, Just wondered if anyone can advise me where we can get a nice healthy syrian hamster from? I would love one of the longer haired teddy bear ones, but not essential. So if anyone knows of a reputable shop/breeder please let me know, Many Thanks Mel
  13. Feel all proud of my OAP boiler now, still merrily chuggin along How about this? Could I remove the ugly surround and *disguise* the fire (obviously wont then be used) with a radiator cover? Would this be enough ventilation? The room is large enough to make a new focal point somewhere else. Mel
  14. Thanks for your help so far. I have dug out the manuel and it is a thorn housewarmer S? Going to scout around net and see if replacement fronts are available at all. Really stuck on what to do. I imagine replacing the entire thing with a new condensing boiler will be over our budget, and in all honesty, barring a yearly service the boiler has never cost us a penny. Think it was definately built to last Mel
  15. Oh no! So fire cant be removed without boiler at all? Can put an electric fire on another wall if needs be. I dont think the boiler is baxi or glowworm and as I say is very old. Mel
  16. Wondered if anyone can help. We currently have a really old gas fire and back boiler. Both are in great working order, serviced regularly. We want to get rid of the fire, but not the boiler. Firstly is this possible? Can we replace with a totally different gas fire or cap fire off and put in an electric one? I also presume we would need a corgi reg guy to remove/replace fire? Any help, or recommendations welcomed;) Mel
