  1. Went to see Alastair McGowan at the City Hall last night - surprised he was in the Memorial Hall as I thought he would draw a larger audience. I thought he was brilliant - 2 hours of quick wit and wonderful impressions. Well worth the ticket price - would love to see him again.
  2. Le Weekend - Some funny bits but a bit disappointing overall 5/10
  3. Brilliant - Yes its a shame the scrappage scheme was scrapped!! Never mind - just looking round now for a new runabout, think I might have found one
  4. Thanks for those of you giving constructive comments. Comedians? Don't give up your day job
  5. Its a shame to scrap it - its been a great car
  6. My 12 year old Corsa has finally given up the ghost. The cam belt has gone and we have decided to cut our losses as the cost of repair is too high. My question is - my car was collected in a pick up and is now at a garage in Sheffield. What do I do now, surely its worth something?
  7. We have just had our lounge and dining room decorated and couldnt be happier with the result. If you need a decorator I would recommend Michael Mitchell - he is very thorough, nothing is too much trouble and hes trustworthy. His number is 2454383 or 07976 714323
  8. We need someone (cheap/reasonable) to keep the weeds down and do a bit of hedge trimming in our garden, probably just a couple of hours a month would do it. Is there anyone out there who would be interested?
  9. Bonjon was telling a story - dont be ridiculous!
  10. Has anyone seen hibiscus houseplants for sale anywhere - just called at Rhinegold (they dont do houseplants), and the nursery at the bottom of Long Lane at Loxley haven't any.
  11. I disagree - I think we now quite often see disabled people portrayed positively in the media, which never used to be the case. I think there is a complete lack of respect amongst some young people these days, too many feckless teenagers having children with no idea or interest in bringing them up properly( to treat people as they would wish to be treated themselves) I can't imagine standing by on Supertram while this disabled lad is being abused. I would have to intervene. I hope everything is working out now for him.
  12. I was exactly the same - the letter to his family made me weep
  13. Candyman - Chris Evans plays this almost every morning on Radio 2 and I cant listen to it
  14. Ive used Ace Domestics in the past and have always been pleased
  15. Most of my childhood memories are on slides and I want to transfer a number of these colour slides/transparencies onto a disc. There are a few people on line who do this for varying prices. Can anyone recommend a place to do this for me?
  16. I have a Neff integral microwave and the door wont open, the switch seems to have broken. It would be quite expensive to replace (about £300). Can anyone out there help?
  17. There was a shop on Prince of Wales Road which did microwave repairs, does anyone know if its still trading? I cant get to my tea as the door wont open - drat!
  18. Sounds like my surgery - Far Lane/Trafalgar?
  19. What a crass comment! I suggest you read the posts properly before answering. This man (who just happens to be disabled) endangers not only himself, but other roadusers and pedestrians lives on a regular basis by getting drunk!!
  20. This particular disabled man uses his wheelchair at speed on the highway whilst drunk - is that allowed?
  21. I wondered if anyone knew these two men. Sooner or later I can see an accident happening.
  22. I came across what I thought was an empty wheelchair sitting in the road whilst driving home from work last night. I overtook it and noticed there was a man sitting in it but slumped right over. On the pavement there was another man sitting talking on his mobile phone. I would have stopped, but Ive seen this pair out and about drunk/high quite a few times recently in the Stannington area, sometimes freewheeling down Stannington Road at speed.
