  1. That has just made me chuckle so so much!! When they were trying to bring him round from the sedation in the hospital, they were talking about getting him to show 'appropriate behaviours'!! He'd never been appropriate in his life!!!
  2. I am proud to say I have the very last picture of him and the last video - we never did get round to filming the sequel! His last photo was of him laid on the ward before he was moved to intensive care. He was laid in bed flashing off his rotund belly, oxygen mask on his face! He wanted me to take the photo and post it on his Facebook wall - forever the center of attention lol! I don't quite know what to do today - life just feels so very very empty.
  3. In the last few years he's really 'mellowed'. I think I saw more of him in the last 18 months than at any other time. He was at our house at least once a week plus we went on many photographic mooches together all the time. He'd taken to coming to ours on a friday night, armed with chocolate to watch Coronation Street!! He'd had a lot of housing issues that I'd been helping him with and had recently moved into a house at Walkely which he loved and felt at long last was somewhere he could call home. He spent the last few years taking some excellent photographs - his Flickr - http://www.flickr.com/photos/0742/ and certainly inspired me in my love of urbexing and dereliction! He was in a happy place of late and I am so glad he had that, even if it was for such a short period of time.
  4. Thanks everyone for your kind comments. He was 45 but he always said he'd never see much past 40! I have to ask, does anyone know how he came to be known as Mozaz? The story I heard was that he had a friend called Jesus so he changed his name to Mozaz! It will be down to me and his other close mates (if we get our own way) to make the arrangements. We know exactly what he wanted - he told me about 8 months ago! It will be far from conventional but will be the right thing for him. I shall let people know as and when ok.
  5. I just want to say an enormous thank you to the amazing staff at Critical Care at the NGH, particularly Ed and Tony who treated him with so much dignity and kindness. I know that Tony posts on here as we discovered through chats that we all had friends/aquaintances in common. You two helped us, his friends such a lot and we felt safe leaving him with you. Thank you just doesn't even seem enough.
  6. It is with a huge amount of sadness that I have to report that Mozaz (Mark Wallis) left us at 3:05am today. He has been critically ill in intensive care with swine flu and pneumonia. Mozaz was a unique character known to many in Sheffield and beyond. In his many guises he was a writer, poet, excellent photographer, historian, Urbexer and anarchaic activist. He was also a class one pain in the backside who had a real talent for rubbing people up the wrong way -you either loved him or couldn't stand him!! Either way, he made his own very unique mark on a huge amount of people. Myself and a solid group of his friends were with him through to the very end and are completely devastated. Whatever you thought to Mozaz, there was just something about him. His passion and conviction for the things he believed in and were important to him I have never seen the likes of in anyone else. I hope people will remember him with affection and if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all!! Please remember, to those who really knew him he was much loved. Sam
  7. We've just got off the tram in Hillsborough to find Rudyard Road blocked off by the police. A police car is parked across the entrance and further down the road it is completely taped off by the looks of it. There were a couple more car and a significant amount of police around too. Any information as to what has happened? Thanks!
  8. Hi I've just been told that the trams have been stopped as there is a huge fire somewhere at Middlewood. Any more info anyone? Thanks!
  9. Anything family friendly happening suitable for teenagers?

  11. Hi. We have a radar key as my 12 year old son has aspergers etc and is too anxious to use the mens toilets. To get a radar key you just pop into any local council office (we got ours from First Point Hillsborough) and ask for one. They cost, if I remember correctly, about £3.50. If you fill in a form you get it 50p cheaper! You need no proof of any disability and absolutely anyone can just walk in and get one there and then. We would be utterly lost without ours! We also get funny looks and comments about him using the disabled toilet as he doesn't look disabled but I just don't care any more. People should learn to accept that some disabilities are not visible.
  12. I received a payment of £75 yesterday and had no idea what it was. I've had no letter saying anything about cold weather payments. It showed up on my online banking today as the cold local weather payment. I live in S6
  13. I have a 12 year old son with OCD which he has had since he was about 6. It's a terrible illness which rules his life. He just has one elder sister. I can think of nothing worse than a six year ol dtelling you they have to do bizarre rituals becuase if they don't, they might die. 6 years on, it's no better.
  14. Thanks for that. When googling cheap DSi it comes up as the top link (sponsored links). Thanks very much for the info !
  15. Has anyone heard of this site and if so, are they any good? gabusa.co.uk They are selling DSi bundles with a Mario game for just £79.99 My son is after one for his birthday but don't want to risk using a dodgy site and losing my money. Seems too good to be true and things like that usually are. Thanks!
  16. The jobs I am currently looking at are 3 days a week. I phoned the childrens disability team who informed me that SNIPS are responsible for helping families of children with additional needs find appropriate childcare. I never knew this! I thought that SNIPS just provided the service as a means of respite for families. i am now waiting for them to get back to me.
  17. I'm looking at going back to work but can't even contemplate it unless I can find appropriate childcare for my son. He is almost 13 and has aspergers, tourettes, adhd, ocd and severe anxiety. He doesn't really like being with other people and his behaviour is quite hard for people to understand at times and he can come across as rude and anti-social. I have no family members who can look after him regularly and am at a loss as to where to look. I've had a list of childminders who look after children with special needs but most will have a housefull of younger children, pre-school or primary age and I don't feel it's appropriate for him to spend his days there as I am not sure they would cater for his needs. Most who I have previously contacted don't feel they can cater for his complex needs or are fully booked anyway. He goes to Bents Green School and has one day a week at their holiday club through SNIPS but they don't always run everyday and places are limited. Any ideas and suggestions would be gratefully received. Thanks !
  18. I saw recently in a catalogue from the mobility shop near Morrisons, a cap which comes preloaded with some kind of shampoo etc that doesn't even need water to use. It looks like a shower cap and I think you just put it on your head and rub around with your hand. Not sure of that would be of any use? Might be worth a look.
  19. I was there on Saturday with Ray of Hope support group. We had a Teddy Tombola fundraising stall and raised a fair amount of money for our group. I believe there was a bit of trouble after me and my son left with some teens demanding prizes without winning tickets, but on the whole, we found people supportive and it seemed a good atmosphere. A big thanks to everyone who supported our group!
  20. My daughter went all through school with only a basic standard of reading a writing and terrible spelling. I asked on numerous occasions if they thought she was dyslexic but I was told constantly that she was lazy and just talked too much! Within a month of starting college they phoned me to say they had concerns and thought she had some kind of learning difficulty. They did assesments and found she had dyslexia (scotopic blindness) and needed everything printing on lilac paper or to use overlays. They also said she was bordeline learning disabled. The help she got made a big difference but it does make me angry that she was labelled lazy when it was not the case.
  21. I was going to ask what is happening there? Anyone any info please?
  22. Have you tried emailing them? We have been lucky enough to have a FF grant for the last 4 years. We were lucky in that once the initial home visit had taken place, ours was awarded very quickly. This year I had lost my FF number so emailed them and they replied the same day! I applied online this year and recieved it in less than 2 weeks!
