  1. I've just checked the map and it is not called Bochum Parkway on that but it is Norton Avenue. The school is Valley Park
  2. Just seen a boy being chased across Bochum Parkway near the school by a policeman armed with rifle At 6 o'clock on a Monday evening?
  3. Have a look on livingsocial.com I think they had a deal on canvas prints in Sheffield for about 15 quid this week
  4. We took our kids to see him last weekend and can only say he is the best Santa's helper we have ever seen Simply brilliant
  5. You don't need lessons. You just spray it on and then buff it off with a dry cloth
  6. Try looking on here - pick a place and find routes people have logged. There are some good ones out at Ladybower and Derwent http://www.walkjogrun.net
  7. Just been past and didn't see anything. The road was open.
  8. Anybody any idea why the police helicopter is running backwards and forwards over SW Sheff. It looks like it heads out to Derbyshire over Owler Bar and then returns about 5 minutes later
  9. Anybody know why the helicopter is up over Totley and Dore It has been circling for about 20 minutes centred on King Egbert's school
  10. I saw the patchwork one go past last night and it seemed low but OK but the Virgin ballon that was behind it went down somewhere near Queen Victoria Road. It went down really quickly and seemed like it had got snagged on something
  11. Not sure where your getting your info from - I get the Cutler to London and the details on EMT website looks like an improvement to me The Cutler gets in about 4 mins later that usual but sets off ten minutes later and the 6.47 replaced a train that used to stop literally everywhere and turn around at Nottingham. The return journey was about 2hrs 40 so that's definitely an improvement - if you are worried about seats and traveling with work then why aren't you booking in advance and reserving a seat? The Master Cutler, which has been faithfully taking Yorkshire’s business travellers to London has been joined by two more prestigious services, giving you a better choice of arrival times at London St Pancras International. You can choose from The Sheffield Continental at 0647 (arriving London 0913), The Master Cutler at 0727 (arriving 0937) or The South Yorkshireman at 0744 (arriving 1006). By tripling your travel options you’ll benefit from greater flexibility, a relaxing journey and a hearty breakfast whichever train you choose. There’s more good news for the journey home too. Return journey times have also been improved as there will now be a fast train every hour between 0755 and 1755, each taking just 2 hours 07 minutes from London to Sheffield.
  12. I have heard there is a world wide shortage of fireworks since the Chinese government directed all major firework production over the summer to focus on the Olympics. If you look in the supermarket there is definately less to choose from. I think that and the economic climate has kept it quiet
  13. looking at the picture on the bbc news website the bike looks shattered not good
  14. Does anybody know anyone who delivers firewood logs in SW Sheff? I have found a couple of old posts about Ecclesall Saw Mills but am not sure if they still do them. Similarly if anybody gets loose coal delivered in SW Sheff I would appreciate a recommendation Thanks
  15. This might not be as silly an idea as it seems - nuclear warheads can be detonated above the earth's atmosphere which results in a huge electromagnetic pulse to be released. This basically cooks ever piece of electrical equipment and turns it into a useless pile of warm plastic. A steam train being entirely mechanical would work perfectly after a detonation such as this - there was no such thing as a transistor when they were built The only flaw in this is that trains work better with something to run on - you could bet the house that any strategic strikes would take out critical train lines and associated infrasturcutre
  16. Can't recommend them highly enough. It is very rare these days that you meet someone who is an honest tradesman and I can assure you the chap who owns Frame Ups is both these things We asked them for a quote for replacing a door and some bathroom windows. When they came round they told us we didn't actually need the bathroom ones doing since there was a few years left in them yet so we only needed the door done. It was so refreshing to be given trustworthy advice and not feel like you were being had. They came up to fit the door and fitted some extra locks since we were worried about security - they didn't even charge me for the locks. Mark even invited me to come and play golf on his weekly golf outing! If you are asking whether or not to use them I would say a whole hearted yes. I am actually pleased to be able to recommend them (and this is after 12 months) because trades like the window business are in a poorer place for the lack of companies like Frame-ups ...and before anybody says it - I am a genuine customer - Mark even told me that his wife was a Sheffield Forum nut!
