  1. I think Ashely Cole is the only genuine World class player England has and I know that all depends on your definition of world class (for me best XI in World vs second best XI - if you are on the pitch in that game you are World class) so Baines is definitely unlucky to be around at the same time. Cole is definitely the better defender and is quicker and more mobile. I've seen very fast wingers (Nani, Young) do Baines for pace whereas Cole rarely gets caught out. That said, Baines probably edges it on crossing ability
  2. yes spot on, 'I got a dophin on my shoulder cus like the way they swim is so free and that's a bit like me cus I'm like err well individual and free!' Christ I sounds like a snob!
  3. What really annoys me are those people that basically have a tattoo instead of a personality. You know the type, they seem to think that having a tattoo in some way makes them interesting and daring or so help me god 'spiritual'! No, it's not 'spiritual' or 'deep', and this doesn't make you a 'free spirit' - it's a japanese tattoo that probably means 'knob head' Sorry but I'm warming to my theme here. In actual fact I think it's really only acceptable to have a tattoo if you were in the navy or prison or a very hard gang!
  4. After watching Shef Utd vs Man Utd in the youth cup final last week and spotting a few possible future stars, just wondered if anyone can legitimately say that they spotted something or someone really early on that would go on to be massive? For instance - saw pulp in front of 5 people in a back room pub in 1979 or bought the first harry potter book when nobody had heard of it or saw michael maccintyre at a tiny comedy club 5 years ago you get the idea
  5. Got to be Guardian for me. I read it online in the week and buy a Saturday paper. I do quite like the i too, nice and cheap, manageable size and a crossword that I can actually complete:)
  6. In honour of British sandwich week, anyone got an unusual favourite? http://www.sandwich.org.uk/ For me, toasted cheese and marmite is a beauty I would particularly welcome any unexpected delights

  12. After Chris Moyles' record breaking radio stint and the umbrella record dance thing in Endcliffe park this afternoon just wondered if anyone else has ever broken a record? I'm sure my cubs u10 50m backstroke record still stands:smile::
  13. In view of the weekend's protesting at the Lib Dem conference I just wondered what else people have protested against? Could be a huge organised event like the Iraq war protests or something smaller like the building of a telephone mast in a local village. When I was a fresher my new political mate persuaded me to protest against McDonalds . There was talk of chaining ourselves to the doors at whoch point I scarpered - must admit my heart wasn't really in it!
  14. ...and mum or dad does not count Mine was Miranda Clarke. I was 11 and I plucked up the courage to put the card in her desk at break. I didn't sign my name but I did include a baby picture of me as a sort of intriguing clue. Later, she marched around the playground with her gang of girls demanding to know who was responsible! Think my beetroot face may have given the game away

  18. My mum used to wear one of those huge furry russian hats when watching me play footy at school. My mates thought it was hilarious
  19. quite amused to see Blunto's mum weigh in to his defence in the posh rock row http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2011/jan/28/james-blunt-mother-posh-pop not sure having mummy sticking her ten cents in ever really helps! I remember the time my mum text all the lads before my stag do asking for them to go easy on me. The thing is they might have done until then! Anyones mum humiliated them?
  20. My mum once punished me for moaning that my tea was never on the table when I got home ( I know, what a brat)...she did this by making me eat curried baked beans for tea for a week! I'm still not sure why - I quite like curried baked beans:|
  21. I recently ploughed through Freedom by Jonathan Franzen which was heavy going but brilliant. To reward myself I am now reading 'Who ate all the pies?' a biography on chubby footballer Micky Quinn - a great easy read Can anyone beat that?
  22. I see your 15 seconds and I raise you 35 seconds. There was a ten year old lad in there for about 5 minutes though. Respect
  23. Went to centre parks this weekend. Had a competition with my mate to see who could stay in the ice cold plunge pool the longest. I'm 32! Does anyone else have these rediculous bets and competitions with their siblings and friends or is it just me?
