  1. I buy sight and sound because I think it makes me looks err clever like. I don't really always understand it though and so I also sneak a peak at empire too though they seem to give everything spielberg ever does 5 stars which is annoying
  2. none at all, all you need is to be passionated about films, have some interesting opinions and be up for a laugh
  3. Looking for funny, passionate and opinionated folks to contribute to my film show on Sheffield Live 93.2fm. If you are interested please let me know. 4. Im a big fan of the peeping boom. Sex and the city is particularly amateurish in this respect and if you are dragged off to watch it is something to look out for to stave off the boredom
  5. well said that man; best film - persepolis was brilliant, orphanage a close second worst film - the happening was a bit pile of steaming turd 'oooh the trees!!oooh the wind'! I've gone and done a whoopsy in my shorts!
  6. I agree in part. I surprised myself about how much I did enjoy it but it was still absolute fluff. It felt like it had been written by a geeky, horny 14 year old boy, oow what would happen if I had a gun and was like in a really cool gang and there was loads of car chases and I could bend bullets and I got one over on the school bully and I was like really cool and i pulled angelina jolie etc etc That said I quite enjoyed it. Though what the chuff was all that stuff about looms about? Not sure that really made sense! Think this is great by the way - having a specific film forum
  7. Jess don't see it I deplore you. It is utter garbage! The Mist on the other hand I have heard is very good. Its by the guy who directed shawshank redemption
  8. good question hurt - the johnny cash one is really sad especially watching the video because he looks a bit frail and his wife looks at him lovingly my girlfriend always cries at tears in heaven by eric clapton which I think is about his son
  9. ever walked out of a film and just felt angry that the wretched director had the audacity to have even made it? That it had insulted your intelligence so much? Maybe you were angry because someone had messed up your favourite book? or a horrible remake? or runied a franchise (hello lucas)? or it was just downright offensive? I walked out of The Happening and I was angry, really angry, ready to unleash bile. Nature getting back at us??! what are you talking about man!!!:mad:How can this useless director keep getting away with it and being allowed to make films? anyway i'll going to tryand calm down but please share the bile :mad::mad:
  10. The Happening was bloody terrible. Absolutely rediculous premise, woeful acting, script fulo of holes, acting ranging from the awful to the downright weird, the tone was all over the place, the attempt at humour was frankly embarrassing...I really could go on so on the whole not at all bad 1 out of 10 Shyamalan should be put in the film sin bin for10 years
  11. thank you Mr Beaker that would be correct; the screening is at cineworld folks and is great opportunity to see what looks like a very funny jack black film rich - i know they are in the middle of a season at the moment but best place is to show your face at the hub on paternoster row and speak to one of the guys down there

  13. having recently watched 'happy go lucky' and had to fight the urge not to gouge out my own eyes so as to not see the irritating girly main character, I wondered who really takes the cake as the most annoying irritating character out there in movie land? jar jar binks is an obvious one I guess! Any thoughts? (to win 2 free showroom cinema tickets for film of your choice just answer the following, 'what year did first inidiana jones movie come out?' answers to [email protected])
  14. law of diminishing returns mate - they have gradually got worse, lost ark was great, temple of doom decent, last crusade for me poor) I think really he should probably call it a day after this one or run the risk or ruining the whole franchise. Think Lucas may have doen this before?!
  15. Not seen the new one yet but can't help thinking old Harry Ford is looking a wee bit creaky. If Spielberg does keep the franchise going and the rumours are that he will, do you reckon anyone a younger actor might step up. Shia La Beouf perhaps or Ben Affleck - he was tipped a few years ago (this weeks film file question, to win two showroom tickets just answer the following, what was the name of tarrantino's b movie film that last year doubled up with robert rodrigues's film? Answers to [email protected])
  16. 17. In previous years we've had Star Wars, Jaws even Forest Gump...all coming out over the Summer months and taking massive business. Which will be the breakout one this Summer? Iron Man? Hancock? Hulk? My money is on Indianna Jones but I may be wrong. Thoughts? (to win 2 showroom tickets just answer the following question. What was the name of the superhero film that Jon Faveau starred in alongside Ben Affleck? Answers to [email protected])
  18. High brow stuff this I know but what with iron man out and all thought it might be an interesting discussion. Would iron man have spiderman in a fight for instance? extra marks for workings out too If you want to win 2 showroom tickets simply answer the following, 'what country is the main character in Persepolis from?' - send you answer to [email protected]
  19. Check out film file this week on 93.2fm sheffield live when me and big dunc will discuss new releases persepolis, forgetting sarah marshall, three and out amongst others. All in an irreverent, articulate and highly entertaining fashion to win shoroom tickets from last weeks show answer the following 'what was the name of mike leigh's gilbert and sullivan film?' - answers to [email protected]
  20. With Persepolis out this week - the jury prize winner at Cannes, I wondered the above. Would it be old skool disney hand drawn or CGI? Admittedly this is a broad debate and animated films have many sub genres such as manga etc...but be interested to hear people's thoughts my ten cents worth...it's between spirited away and toy story 2 but assume many many will disagree
  21. If you want to hear Mr Beakerzoid spend 1 hour shamefully bigging up cineworld then the film file is the place for you. Actually he was a very entertaining guest for all film fans, go to sheffield live and listen to the film file podacasts send your reviews to [email protected]
  22. Having cringed my way through two recent performances, Hayden Christiensen in Jumper and Matthew Fox in Vantage Point I pondered the above.... Im not sure that people like paris hilton really count because I dont even class her as an actress, Im talking about those actors who star in movie after movie getting paid top dollar and just keep getting away with it
  23. just answer the following question 'who directed knocked up?' put 'film file' in subject header and send answers to; [email protected]
  24. Agree with angela's ashes. Couple of controversial ones - trainspotting and clockwork orange, two truley original author's, language often confusing. The films were more focused and realised the ideas better
  25. Thought of another few and a Director who is pretty good at adapting is Alexander Payne who did; Election, About Schmidt and Sideways Think as someone pointed out earlier, badly written book with half decent story can often make very good film
