  1. Having just watched the truly awful 'love in the time of cholera' I wondered whether a film can ever top the original book. I guess some books are more suited to adapting than others Off the top of my head, wasn't the godfather originally a novel?
  2. green street!??! Tess your having a laugh! That one about the little hobbit pretending to be a football thug. That stunk out the room
  3. not sure lost in translation stood up to repeated viewings though still feel it had a sort of sad, dream like quality or maybe I was just mesmorised by scarlett johanson. For me Bill Murray can do no wrong Found Nathalie Portman really annoying in Garden State. Quirky girl syndrome that too many indie films fall into. We are supposed to fall in love with her quirky charms but she just makes me cringe
  4. Although I respect what Shane Meadows has done, in that he's managed to forge a career for himself in Britain without money etc etc. His films are gritty, working class and depressing - I watch them once, I admire them but I never want to see them again
  5. Think you might be right Meako. Unless your Richard Curtis British film seems to = gritty or charming or now crap horror Does that mean all the half decent british Directors will up and do one to the US where the can actually get a half decent budget for their films. Can't really blame em, know I would
  6. juno, rushmore, election, garden state, lost in translation...I could go on and on. Why can they make these kinds of films in the US and not here? Is it just money is it me or are all british indie films a bit rubbish? thoughts people? p.s. film file - sheffield live 93.2fm

  13. I agree with that completely. I cant understand why Hendrie isn't playing, he's one of the most naturally gifted players I've seen. His problem is he's thick and doesn't work hard. He was in the Eng U21 team with lampard and was widely regarded as the better player...then look what happens. Hendrie would be brilliant for Utd though playing attacking centre mid with someone defensive behind - maybe Nicky Butt? Really not looking to stir things up with Utd fans because I know how much most rate Jags but as a neutral I think I'm in a good position to really look at players fairly. I watch him play and he works tirelessly, in defence his speed and positioning can be brilliant but he can also be very sloppy. In midfield, I dont think his touch is good enough. Fair enough he won Championship player of the year. I'm just not convinced he'll ever be a really good premiership player. Hope i'm proved wrong. Think the young Quinn lad looks very promising mind - was very good against us
  14. As a Villa fan based in Sheffield with a Utd season ticket I have to say that firstly I hope to god Villa dont buy jags because he is one of the most overrated players I have seen. He's ok in defence, he's awful in midfield. As a neutral and having watched Utd all season, i have to say the only 2 players that should be turning any other clubs heads are Kenny and Hulse. Both have been brilliant all year. If the club can get anything like 5mill for jags he should be sold immediately to buy a centre midfielder who can actually pass the ball and hey maybe even tackle.
