  1. You dont need to ask them any technical stuff to show that they know nothing about what is in there shop. Screw fix is alot better and its owned by the same company so why do B&Q end up with the less helpfull people? Maybe its because im used to a supplyers what is more intrested in helping than hiding from customers
  2. People who work in B&Q have least amount of knowledge about diy or any of there products than any other company in there line of business. The 'plumbing expert' at Darnal knows nothing about plumbing unless its speed fit, what anyone could use after reading instuctions. Tell him to work any where else but B&Q
  3. give it a fue days on here and you will get someone ( will more than likely go by the name dave) offering to do it for a bag if crisp and a chocy digestive just to undercut anyone else on the forum. But if you want a good honest tradesmen call Cairn 07872074974. http://www.hubbuck.co.uk his address and contact details are on there also so you know he isn't going to disappear after doing it. thank you Scott
  4. Its called pinders. DO NOT USE THESE they are for more expensive than anywhere else in sheffield and the manager is a t*** and the most arragont person ive met. On the good side the owner is brill and will go out of his way to help you but he is hardly in. Scott
  5. AB graphics at attercliff does them I think. Speak to Liam and tell him I reccomended you to them Scott
  6. If people are willing to let someone fit them a door for £10 then let them. Its the same when people ask on the forum 'how much for a outside tap fitting?' it starts off at around £60 for a companie with all the relevent qualifications and insurance to do it, but within an hour someone with the user name dave or equivalent offering to do it for a 4 pack of skol and a kebab. ( sorry to any tradesmen called dave but you know what I mean) Thank you Scott
  7. As has already been said some companies employ other trades like myself, I am a heating and gas engineer but I employ someone for the SAW joinery side of the company. I also employ someone for tiling and electrical work as I'm not jack of all trades. Ill stick to my gas as its what I know best.
  8. Doesn't everyone but that doesn't mean its the best. For such a small job you would be best doing it yourself, find a local plumber or ask a neighbour. I live in S13 area if thats close to you? Thank you Scott

  21. I agree with xmoonshinex. But there will also be elderly and disabled what will need your service as they wont be well off, so I think you have had a great idea. Its just finding the correct contacts to point you in the direction of genuine customers. Also dont let nursing holmes con you into doing things for free because they have more money than the residents in there. Good luck with this, it sounds realy nice of you but dont be conned yourself Thank you Scott
  22. Hi give me a call on the number below and if your avalible I can fit you in before my afternoon job ( 1pm ) or just give you advice over the phone Thank you Scott
  23. As a tradesman you will be looking at a hourly rate of about £13 as a fully qualified plumber or electrician. But if you also have gas safe you could get a little more. Then from that it all depends on the hours you work a week or if there is any over time at an increased hourly rate. And if there is any travel pay. If your self employed tradesmen it’s really up to you what you earn as your having to do everything yourself. Working for a company you could also get a work van and mobile phone so you have to weigh up the pros and cons. So there is no simple answer to the question. Hope this helps you Scott
