  1. Where does it? Ideally on a Friday or Saturday night.
  2. Bassist (who can ideally play a bit of rhythm guitar) and drummer needed to join former Pockets Filled With Matches vocalist and guitarist in putting together a new project. We like The Dismemberment Plan, Pretty Girls Make Graves, Johnny Foreigner, Jetplane Landing, Cursive, Minus The Bear, Les Savy Fav, early Idlewild, early Biffy Clyro - the noisier, more interesting end of the indie rock spectrum essentially, but still with a decent amount of pop. You have ideally heard of some of the above, play bass and/or drums to a decent standard, and crucially are available to practice most weekends. Reply to elie dot howe at hotmail dot com.
  3. +1. We get most of our meat from him now and it's always great quality.
  4. Apparently the 95 is running again now too. I will yet get out of Walkley today!
  5. Anyone tried to get a 95 yet or know whether the route is clear?
  6. Proper snow now in Walkley, big flakes and coming down quite fast. If this sets in for the night we'll wake up in the morning with a good few inches I expect.
  7. They got me my first proper job post uni and were great, would second that recommendation.
  8. Depends what kind of work you are looking for, but you could try the area around the Cathedral where there are lots of agencies.
  9. Monster.co.uk is a good one because you can upload your CV for recruiters to browse - I know they do this because I've had quite a bit of contact. There's also mysheffieldjobs.co.uk, jobstoday.co.uk and totaljobs.com. You get some duplication as some recruiters upload vacancies to multiple sites to increase the amount of people who will see the vacancy, but I figure it's better to see a vacancy twice than not at all.
  10. We do really well in Sheffield for second hand bookstores I've got to say. I must make a trip out to these two soon. Is the one on Sharrow Vale Road still there as well? I think that's probably my favourite, although I do love Rare & Racy as well.
  11. Here's a website full of them :-) http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/
  12. Some friends of mine are in the Company (http://www.thecompanysheffield.co.uk/) who put on consistently good quality plays, usually three a year.
  13. You'd be best approaching the gym directly surely? I am also a member and in my experience they are very good at sorting stuff once brought to their attention.
  14. Thanks, I was wondering too - they are audible from Walkley.
  15. I can't get on twitter at work - can anyone post updates in this thread whilst the main site is down?
  16. You've just hit the nail on the head. If everyone who went over and had a look on the forum posted an intro or an advert for their upcoming gig or an advert for a new band mate or so on rather than deciding it's all a bit too quiet and moving on, I imagine the situation would be quite a bit different. Of course, I can't preach, because I have made all of one post and didn't post again when there was no response!
  17. Who's in the band at the moment, Ed? I've completely lost track and I've not even managed to come and see you guys yet!
  18. There's nothing inherently wrong with either this forum or the Sheffield Band forum except the lack of users. If we could somehow attract the old crowd and all the new musicians who have presumably come out of nappies in the meantime, then either could work.
  19. How dare you ;-) I think the Soundaloud Awards stopped at the same time as the website did. I only remember them running for 2 years although I could be wrong about that - they were always very drunken affairs...
  20. I've seen nothing similar which is a shame really. There were some good folks on that forum and its predecessors, Soundaloud and L2SB, both of which are defunct.
  21. It had not even occurred to me but will find out if we have any Roland dealers locally, thanks.
  22. Ouch, definitely can't afford that. Thanks for replying though.
  23. Bump.. there must be someone in the area surely?
