  1. Thanks for all your replies. There may be a number of threads on the most awfulest letting agents - I would like a good one.I also want one that's not going to take the p*** out of my prospective tenants. Good ones are rare it would seem I've taken a complete punt and gone with Archers (who are they? you may say). Small local firm. I'll have to see how it goes.
  2. I like the Mediterranean on Sharrowvale Road, but they won't tell you that they'll 'love you long time'
  3. Sounds quite promising. Where's West Street Live (apart from on West Street, obviously!)
  4. I know now, as I've just come back- just down the road from Zeugummy (?) at 140 London Road. It was scrummy!
  5. Of course, your response wasn't bigoted at all, eh?
  6. Where is this? I can't find any evidence of it when I search onlint - ta!
  7. I thought this was a little up itself when I went a kind of trendy Indian. The food was okay but the service was appalling. The waiters seemed to beleive they were there to look good rather than serve us
  8. It's the RSPBs big bird watch thingy this weekend. Your parrot would be a good one to get down on your list
  9. Try vebra.com if all you want to do is get and idea of current prices
  10. I'm a landlord and have a vacant 3 bedroom flat in Ranmoor. I am planning to use a letting agent to get it rented and wondered if people have any experiences on the good, the bad or the indifferent. Any info would be appreciated!
  11. It's one of my local restaurants and I used to go in there a lot but I too find it expensive and some of the waiting staff have a bad attitude - I;ve experienced the rudest most snooty service ever (can't tar them all with the same brush as others I've found to be lovely). There's loads of choice on Ecct Road and Nonnas is the last on my list after those experiences. I'd say go for 543, the Pasta Bar, Santinos and the wonderful Mediterranean on Sharrowvale Road if you're feeling flash with your cash. Having said all that, it's OK for a coffeee or glass of wine and I'm off there now to meet a friend
  12. Post Office is usually most competative - and I think no commission
  13. The place at Hunters Bar roundabout - is it Blue Fin? (Gawd, my short term memory is awful these days). They're doing a many course affair with champagne for £42 pp. As I was in there enjoying the two courses and a glass of wine for £9.50, I think I'll pass on Valentines night The food is pretty nice though, so if you're feeling flash...
  14. Mightily! :rant:I seemed to be a lone voice on the last thread though. I growel (?groul?) every time I pass it (which as I live up Eccy Rd is often!) I am trying my damndest not to use it (Chesterfield Market today was far cheaper too )
  15. Am I the only person that hates Tescos and didn't want it to expand, eating up all the sweet little rinky dink shops at Berkeley Precinct? Bloody supermarkets are anything but super IMO
  16. How about Books on the Park on Rustlings Road opposite Endcliffe Park?
  17. Hope you're feeling encouraged by all the supportive posts! I'm just getting back into being fit after a [long] while of being lazy. What works for me is routine (I go at the start of the day before I do anything else and get showered and ready for the day there), realistic goals (I'm aiming to lose 1lb a week. It don't sound much but by the end of March, I'll have lost a stone) and results (for me, my wardrobe expanding because clothes fit me again!). If you think in the negative ("I should go but it's so boring") you're on to a loser before you've begun. Position yourself in front of MTV with your tunes in your ear and think I'm going to have a body like that ..... (insert name of scrummiest star)
  18. The Clay Oven on Oakbrook Road. It's a bit tucked away but walking distance for me and never disappointing with delightful service. I'd also have to agree with those who said the Mangla, Kahsmir and Elinas. Ashoka is OK but a bit on the expensive side. I love curry!!!
  19. My best ever hangover cure is to take an alka seltzer XS before bed and one in the morning as soon as you wake up. This kills all but the most evil hangovers. I swear by it and usually have it as my final drink after a big night out. It'll probably still help you now too. Also, banana smoothies. Real bananas are a natural antidepressant and the milk rehydrates you. BoL!
  20. Yeah, but it used to be called the Spastics Society. That's hardly miniminch's fault:confused:
  21. Greens is only £27 per month off peak for students.... Dunno about the fees otherwise. However, the ladies showers are very smelly
  22. I have quite a few trees and tall old shrubs in my garden and it's always been busy with birds. The robins would take it in turns to come and shout at me when I'm gardening and not stop til I threw them a worm! The squirrels however... So I recently took direct action and got myself two squirrel proof birdfeeders off ebay. They work great and the garden is now awash with a menagerie of birds like blackbirds, thrushes, tits of all kinds (sorry!), dunnocks, doves and NO squirrels
