  1. If you measure it in terms of units sold..it'll be something inexpensive and loved by loads of people... a Mars Bar
  2. hahaha.. I actually want a Yorkshire Terrier
  3. Although will United let him go.. he is a good footballer... he's still young and lack discipline.. so does Rooney... Rooney got a red... it shouldn't come as a suprise the way the game was heading (the style of play not the end result)... portugal are capable of playing a physical game but also play a very good tactical one and are very well disciplined.. england aren't as well disciplined... it's grea tto see players getting passionate about the game but it has to stop at a certain stage... letting the opposition get you worked up does not mean we can blame the opposition... these players are professionals and must play like them..
  4. I reckon Sir Alex will lay the smackdown on him
  5. But think of how many more people would be made redundant.
  6. No wonder her parents are strict... better keep an eye on her man, she could just float away
  7. I once found a plasma TV sitting next to car on a street once. It wasn't theft because I came across it just by chance.
  8. If everyone was good then we wouldn't need police or people to pick up rubbish.. we would then live in utopia... which smacks of communist idealogy... so lets stay democratic and commit crimes and litter everywhere
  9. To be honest I'm a bit more worried the BBC chose to report it in the BBC Sports section...
  10. That's who the Prince is?? ah right.. jeez.. hard times if he has to run a mile.. he should've chosen to jump a stile or eat a country pancake now that would've raised a lot more money!!
  11. And not pay for in town pay and displays This I do not understand, fair dues you may be lesser abled than I and so are eligible for a disabled parking badge. I understand that due to your disability you cannot take public transport as much as myself and thus end up paying more (if you had to pay) for parking. However, if you decide to go into town on a weekend (like I do sometimes) to walk around and shop then why should you be exempt from paying? I understand there are disability tax cuts and benefits to counter the additional costs of being disabled so why should a luxury such as in town parking be provided free of charge?
  12. I used to live in Broomhall where they introduced a residents permit scheme. It was done to try and reduce the number of non-residents parking there and then just walking to work/the city centre. However, the schemes get quickly abused. within the first month there were cars parking there with resident permits whose owners didn't live in the area. As a resident you can apply for a parking permit (and pay for it)- you can also apply for one and sell it on to a friendly parker. Obviously you need to know the person prior to this and it needs to be a relatively long term arrangement (I think the minimum permit time is 1-3 months). So the system itself doesn't actually work. What I always thought about was rather than resident's being entitled to a set number of permits per household (as this leaves room for abuse) resident's can apply for the permits through the City Council showing them that the car is registered to a property within the permit zone. The resident should not have to pay for anything and the fact that a permit would only be issued to car residing in the area would resolve all abuse problems (I think) The fact that the Council chose to charge residents for parking permits always ****ed me off because it then changed the objective of providing parking for residents to providing parking according to supply and demand i.e. by introducing a fee you are 'pricing' certain car owners out of the area regardless if they are residents or visitors. I myself refused to pay for a permit and instead found two spaces a bit further down the road where the permit restricitons aren't in force. My expereience has been that there are always small areas that don't require a permit... something that might be worth looking out for.
  13. if you drive a car with a disabled badge (or whatever) can you only park in disabled parking spaces?
  14. It was actually introduced in the late 80s under the name "Stelastic" but it was removed pretty shortly afterwards because of health related problems linked to use of it. A bit like using asbestos etc. But it's new and improved now and back doing all sorts of things
  15. Because the actual bartender gets fined... and also bouncers are always distracted.. Im all for asking people proof of age... if you're old enough then take it as a compliment.. if not then that's life.. although I recently got stung in Virginia USA, bought two bottles of wine and was ID'd.. i'm 21 and a 1/2 (!) so showed my uk driving license (it had worked the other two times at that shop) only to be told I needed my passport or a Virginnian state driving licence.. the manager himself came over and told me this.. I had another official government photo id which i showed him and that still wasn't good enough.. so i do understand frustration especially when it is obviously you aren't pulling a scam.. but I think that you just have to bear with it because if they hadn't clamped down then we would never have gotten longer drinking hours! *End of spiel*
  16. I think two chavs rented some policeman uniforms and pulled a quick one!
  17. you need to be sure that he is cheating on you first. Although it doesn't really seem that you have particularly strong feelings for either of them so: Maybe just stay on your own for a while and chill out and see what happens- don't hurry and it'll all sort itself out.
  18. RubyDazzler, I'm sure Morph is in no way trying to diminish the traumatic events of the London bombings. However I do feel a little for what he says as we (the people) had no choice about the London bombings. Sad but true, they were the actions of a group of people that could not be stopped no matter how hard you try. With the man shot later on- that wasn't the case. But I don't want to get into an argument over this. It was an extremely sad time for people across the world and especially for those more severely affected. Our thoughts are with them.
  19. http://www.workingintheuk.gov.uk/working_in_the_uk/en/homepage/work_permits/applying_for_a_work.html This tells you how to apply for a work permit if you are the employer/representative of the person wanting to come to England... hopefully that'll help
  20. I'm nto sure how long they stay for and it would probably be under a different visa than the one you are looking for. But if you ask the manager then he might have some pointers... If he is a professional and your company writes him a formal contract then I would imagine it would be quite simple... there must be something on the British Consuls webpage.. I'll have a look now... In case you can't tell I'm not really doing anything important!!
  21. As a guess I would say not too amazingly hard. Australia isn't a particularly notorious country for sending illegal immigrants to England and it's part of the Commonwealth (I think!) But this is all hearsay... but it shouldn't be too big a deal.. perhaps ask at Walkabout what their procedure is.. although they are probably not "professionals" the managers might know something about the procedures
