Don_Kiddick 11 #1 Posted March 7, 2007 Spotted this glossy mag in Smiths t'other day. £2.75 cover price but it is a monthly mag. Issue 1 - April 07 Is all about veggie growing & has great features on poultry keeping, building & using a polytunnel, getting the best from proporgators, allotment stuff, step-by-step photo guides on how to make stuff. There's a 2 page section on pests & common controlls. Tomatoes, broad beans, chillies & companion planting are covered AND! Even the adverts are damned informative! There's a Specialist Supplier Directory at the back with websites, addresses & phone numbers. I could go on! It's ace & well worth the cover price This is what it looks like and the webby allows you to preview some of the contents page before buying. 10/10! pawa 10 #2 Posted March 7, 2007 I'll go and buy it and give it a chance, but these days there isn't much information that you can't find out from the internet, or by asking on the forum. Still I could take it with me to my plot and refer to it there, as we haven't got a wifi connection yet.
 Share this content via...
low_carbon 10 #3 Posted March 7, 2007 I'd also like to plug Organic Gardening magazine. If you're trying to find organic alternatives to pest control for example then it has some really good tips. This month it compared various types of mulches - I took account of the results today - clear polythene seems to come out best for soil warming. It also has sections on which wild flowers attract which insects etc. I've been buying it every month for two years and it' still a good read. It's monthly at £2.95 and no I don't have shares...
