KenH
I hope it is London but suspect it will be Blackpool. If it is London then it will be as hard to get to as the Dome was for most of us and this will limit the amoutn of money given to american gangsters by poor northerners. Stockers
the Dome is not the right place for a Casino and after all Prescotts dodgy dealings on the Super Casino the Labour Government wouldn't be silly enough to go with the Dome idea......would they? Escafeldia
I am hoping Sheffield doesn't get it. We can have enough problems with crooks of various sorts without the influx which will happen if the Casino gets off the ground. I don't know how much influence the Local Authority has had in pushing for this but with their "flair" for backing lame ducks it would be better elsewhere. You can bet your bottom dollar that the citizens of Sheffield will not benefit just as they didn't when we had the Student Games and all that cost. Have we finished paying for that yet? Then the Airport. Either Sheffield was stitched up with letting the whole shebang go for £1-00 or it was intended that it would close after a short life and was built accordingly. Short runway deliberately so decent aircraft could't take off. :loopy:

I always thought it would be funded entirely by one of the big casino co.'s such as MGM?

If we do get a casino, even a smaller one, it won't be paid for by us. The real scandal is what effect it will have on people who are encouraged to gamble because it is bright, airy modern and next to cinemas and restauarants. scentral
I feel there'll be many, many casinos "by stealth". The hoarding around Arundel Block 1 already says "Bars, restaurants and casino". No problems with them myself anymore than betting offices (just don't come whinin' when you lose all your money!), but wonder if this is why Dave Allen is putting his exit strategy in place?
