Sheffield City Centre's Bus Gate? (Arundel Gate)

Not true in my view. No one would be a councillor just to feather their own nest. The allowances they get are a pittance for what they do and the hassle they get. Very few get into the more senior positions and even fewer go on to have a career in Westminster.

The problem with assessing what people want from a city is that there as many views as there are people and a lot of views are conflicting. The way that is dealt with is by having decisions made by politicians who are accountable to the electorate at the ballot box.

The officers are generally decent professionals who do a good job.

Who is “we”?

I think quite a few people understand the need to keep through traffic out of the city centre.

the people who made all this possible

Not true in my view, or the hundreds of people i speak to every week

So you have meaningful conversations with hundreds of people every week on how good or not councils are and how cities should be used?

Or is it you make a few posts on “social” and get a few likes?

The use of a Bus Gate should only be in use at peak times allowing access to the city for everyone

Anything else is just a slimy process of introducing fines to innocent people who might make a harms wrong decision of driving down a road

Its turning the human experience into a farce, citizens scared to venture into town because of a threat of a fine

Out of interest - where in the city are you trying to access that you can't because of the bus gate?

Obey the LAW. No fine. Simples.

This bus gate has been that well publicised on several news media, has an absolute myriad of sinage and been discussed to death on here that there's no excuse for ignoring it, and therefore getting a fine in the process.

It's not a farce at all,  it's fact and who are all these citizens who are scared to venture into town because of it?  Details please.

You can get access at all times, you just might have to go a slightly different way.

The only thing the bus gate does is stop through traffic in one direction.

Nothing like a bit of hysterical gross exaggeration to spice up the discussion, eh?

Thats not the point, Having to drive the long way around isn't justified

I've managed for the last year or so this bus gate has been in place. Takes just a few minutes extra.
