Getting A Buckled Front Cycle Wheel Trued Up Advice

Recommended Posts

This is for a road cycle 700c.  Anyone know a local place reasonable cost.

Been quoted £30 at a place in Rotherham

Where's local? AE Butterworth on Abbeydale Road is good for repairs at a decent price. You can get spoke keys to give it a go yourself but it's difficult to get it right and a proper truing tool is expensive.

Another shout for Butterworths, or Wilson Cycles on City Road, or Langsetts on Infirmary Road.

£30 doesn't sound unreasonable.

I don't know Langsetts but Butterworths and J F Wilson Cycles would get my vote too.

From memory though I think that J F Wilson is only open three days a week – it's often been shut when I've gone past.

Does anyone know if Bike Kitchen or something similar is still running? Used to be able to rent a work stand dirt cheap and use their tools and there was usually someone on hand if you got stuck.

There's A Different Gear in Thirlwell Road, Heeley.

"A Heeley Trust community business and the income we generate is invested back into our local community".

"Wheel true – from £10 each"

There's the other Butterworth's on Catch Bar Lane as well.  I can't remember how much it was to get my wheel trued though, it was a long time ago!

That's a reasonable price for someone else to do it.

If you want to do it yourself you'll need to buy a spoke adjusting tool (couple of quid off ebay or maybe Amazon) and also something to act as a visual point of reference, this can be something as simple as a tie-wrap / zip-tie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQ4g1QNg4dU
