John   11 #1 Posted June 10, 2006 Do you read the manuals or do you go straight in there and fiddle about with the new products you've just bought such as Mobiles, DVD/Recorders, TV, etc and try and work it out?
 Share this content via...
Ally68 Â Â 10 #2 Posted June 10, 2006 That made me smile cos I always fiddle about with things without reading the manual. It's only when I get really stuck do I resort to getting the manual out. I don't know why I do this but it seems I'm not the only one
 Share this content via...

JoeP Â Â 11 #8 Posted June 10, 2006 I'm a bloke. Although part of my job involved writing documentation and telling users to RTFM (Read The Friendly Manual) I try and avoid the documentation as much as possible. Â When I bought my router I spent about 4 hours trying to get it working, Googled, asked people, and then eventually looked on page 4 of the manual where it said 'If this happens, do this'. I did it, and lo and behold all worked well. Â I don't like to think how much of my life I've wasted by NOT reading the darn things!
