Yes, five doors up from the Illingworth's, moved there in 45 and left there in 55,

 

 

 

Think you moved out as I moved in . Lived on Tasker from 57 until1967 then

 

School Rd . The Shop at the top at the top of the road I remember as Phylis's

 

was she always there ? Think there was a Shoe repairers opposite her.

 

Mr Eyre was the Grocer at the end of Salisbury,and Fred Alcock in the Green-

 

grocers opposite .Surprising what you remember !

phylis and albert were there when I moved in in 57 they had been there for years then. I lived next door to her until 74

there is another post or it could even be earlier in this one which talks about phylis

freddie alcock was in a band called the Jetblacks and his german girlfriend/wife ran the hairdressers at the bottom of Salisbury.

Oh Yeah ! Went there a couple of times for a haircut .Didn't Freds mum

have a shop at the top of Salisbury ? Always thought it was too small for a

hairdressers. My brother rented the downstairs flat next to the shop but that

was a few years later around 1991 -92 ,for a short time.

yes fred's mum had a shop there and she sold knitting wools and sewing things along with others.

do you remember Frank Smith? his mum ran the shop at the top of cross lane and mulehouse?

Hi oldiegirl, I remember the shop not the people . Usually went out of Tasker

down St Thomas my nan lived on School Rd would go there then up Crookes

My dad had an allotment in the cemetry, so would go past that shop then.

Saw Joe Cocker perform a few weeks back. He opened for Tom Petty and IMO was the better act, But then I may be bias :)
