Squiggs   11 #13 Posted November 4, 2016 I didn't for a minute think you'd be slagging the staff off, you're obviously an animal lover and are just concerned about their welfare. It isn't the nicest place and that's exactly why it's so important to support the small local rescues as they're the ones that take the dogs from there and help them be re-homed to a happy loving home. Exactly It's not just local rescues either, there are groups like Safe and Sound who specialise in "pound pulling" of the most urgent cases in council pounds and finding suitable rescue spaces. In the past I've picked up from Spring Street and driven dogs to rescues in Scotland and to London.  But that's just the tip of the iceberg, it's a neverending task for the people who do this every day - I seriously don't think people in general have any idea of the scale of the problem with dumped and unwanted animals. frankiesgirl   10 #14 Posted November 10, 2016 Hi, I have a few bags of old towels and bedding. Is there any way it can be collected from me as I have no transport and no way of getting it down there, but would like to help if I can.  Frankiesgirl
 Share this content via...
Rainrescue   10 #15 Posted November 23, 2016 Often the dogs that are in there, and desperate for new homes are on the website http://www.ineedahome.co.uk and check out Sheffield Stray Kennels.  A city like sheffield should look after their vulnerable - dogs, children, elderly and anything or person in need. Sadly, as we all know thats not the case with funds being reduced more and more.  If people reduced the volume of animals being bred - and looked to adopt instead of just going for a puppy - maybe more of the dogs thrown away would get a second chance.  Please - tell anyone you know if they are looking to get a new dog - to certainly check out the dogs in there. They aren't simply 'rescue' dogs, they are dogs that went to the wrong home first time round.
 Share this content via...
NewBiz   10 #16 Posted November 24, 2016 Hi, I have a few bags of old towels and bedding. Is there any way it can be collected from me as I have no transport and no way of getting it down there, but would like to help if I can. Frankiesgirl  I picked the bedding up from Frankiesgirl and took it to the pound, and I'll do the same for anyone in quite a large area of the city. PM with your whereabouts and I'll let you know whether I can cover it.  Cheers
 Share this content via...

NewBiz   10 #18 Posted November 24, 2016 I thought they were always in need of bedding as they don't have any washing facilities?
 Share this content via...
Rainrescue   10 #19 Posted November 24, 2016 I'm sure they do - but sometimes they have more than others - they have it stacked up - worth doing an appeal I'm sure.
 Share this content via...
