Halibut   12 #25 Posted June 29, 2015 It went well. After he had fledged fully, and learnt to fly (that was fun!) I used to feed him once in the morning before work and then a few times in the afternoon and evening. By then he was spending his days 'free' but he'd always come back for some chow in the late afternoon and a night in the hutch. Pretty soon he stopped coming back at all. I'd never been a 'bird person' before then, but this jackdaw won me over completely.  This reminds me very much of Jacky (see what we did there?) who was raised by my older brother having been found as an injured fledgling. My memories are rather vague, but I distinctly recall my brother in the garden calling him to himself - and there's a lovely photograph extant somewhere of the bird perched on my brother's hand. As in your case, he just stopped coming back.
 Share this content via...
