biotechpete   10 #13 Posted November 26, 2014 Or how much goes to the NHS research and not to fund private companies who then charge the donors for the pills they produce.  I'm fairly sure that no charity money goes towards (big) private company research. Most NHS research is funded by pharma and the NIHR (direct from govt). The vast majority of charity money goes to universities and some univeristy hospitals in the form of research grants. CRUK have all the institutions they fund here: http://www.cancerresearchuk.org/science/research/who-and-what-we-fund/browse-by-institution/%20?letter=A let me know if you can see a pharma company there, I can't!  Most charities like CRUK, BHF etc spend at least 80% of what they raise directly on research. F. Sidebottom   10 #14 Posted November 26, 2014 UK cancer survival rates are lower than those in the third world. http://web.orange.co.uk/article/news/uk_cancer_survival_rates_below_third_world  I always suspected the NHS was being deliberately being run down by the tories ahead of privatisation, but things are going too far. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-30201023  What's your next ludicrous anti government rant going to be?  How about:  "UK no better at immortality than crappy slum countries"  :hihi:
 Share this content via...

Mecky   10 #17 Posted November 26, 2014 The information for the study comes the years between 1995—2009, I think Labour governed the country for most of that time.  Where does it say any date pre 2010 in both of the articles I quoted? blake   10 #22 Posted November 26, 2014 I don't believe for a minute cancer survival rates are lower in the UK than in the '3rd world' - an antiquated expression, by the way that I'm surprised the BBC is still using.  A lot of people in less developed countries that get cancer aren't diagnosed at all. They just die. Also a lot of people have already died of something else before they get the chance to get cancer in the first place.
