Parvo   13 #50 Posted September 20, 2014 This is a petition that is related to this style of development that is happening across the country-whilst not anti development its about responsibility of noise insulation- so that developers have to insulate against a pre-build source of noise not force closure post development.....very reasonable  https://www.change.org/p/sajid-javid-mp-adopt-the-agent-of-change-principle?utm_source=action_alert&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=143120&alert_id=iicqTmPYfq_Je4yTdHlgEkLAGukcvdVbP33qHO7rWm4CxsjGB1%2BAAg%3D  wow thats a big link hope it works
 Share this content via...

Cyclone   10 #55 Posted September 30, 2014 The area needs encouraging and expanding. Every building becomes an eyesore when left to go to wrack and ruin.  SCC are past masters at this sort of thing.  They even treated the rest rooms at the station the same and then were obstructive in its renovation.  SCC don't own or maintain those buildings. Nor do the "intend" to knock them down.  They've conditionally approved the application for demolition, which has presumably been made by a company which either owns, or intends to own those buildings. They certainly won't be knocking them down without the owners permission!  ---------- Post added 30-09-2014 at 12:10 ----------  I agree with this. Incidentally didn't Sheffield bid to get City of Culture status some time ago? It's hardly surprising we weren't awarded it if they aren't going to provide the means to ensure we have a culture to celebrate....They probably saw the pound signs that came attached with the status and wanted the money to fund their pet projects, or the Christmas do or whatnot  Is there some reason the culture can't move to another area that the private owner doesn't want to redevelop?  There seem to be bands practising in Neepsend in the old industrial units on many evenings, and there appears to be more space available in that area... smiggs   10 #56 Posted September 30, 2014 Controversial building demolitions given green light in Sheffield’s cultural quarter -The Star  Reading that article - it seems a long way down the track. They asked for the permission 3 years ago and did nothing and they are now renewing. I await hell freezing over before this even starts. Cyclone   10 #57 Posted September 30, 2014 Its the application for demolition. If it goes through, it will be on their shoulders because it went through with their approval. By approving it, says to me they dont care about something thats already there growing and developing.  They have to follow their own guidelines and processes. They can't just invent reasons to deny planning applications as they will simply be pushed through on appeal.  ---------- Post added 30-09-2014 at 12:13 ----------  Im sure if they pay the going rate they can relocate to wherever they like.  Yeah, this appears to be the obvious answer. If they rent space, they'll simply find another space to rent...
 Share this content via...
